We recently connected with Chad Willardson and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Chad, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
Absolutely. One notable example involves a client couple who were first-generation entrepreneurs in their late 30s with two young children, running a business generating over $50 million in revenue. They were overwhelmed with work commitments and grappling with significant tax liabilities. They had an accountant who wasn’t strategizing effectively, and their financial affairs were in disarray.
We conducted a comprehensive Financial Life Inspection and identified multiple opportunities to streamline and enhance their financial and business affairs. We brought in a new tax team, restructured their business, and significantly reduced their income taxes. We also assisted them in hiring a new estate planning legal team and implemented trust planning and insurance to protect their family and business in emergencies.
We reorganized their investments, established a monthly investment plan, and helped them hire a CFO and COO for their business. Moreover, I introduced them to my personal trainer and a CEO fitness coaching group, which greatly improved their health and fitness.
We organized all their private investments and real estate documents, keeping their financial records in order. I also included them in the entrepreneurial coaching group I’m part of. These measures have not only enhanced their lifestyle and financial freedom but also reduced their time at the office by more than 50%, allowing them to spend more quality time with their children and significantly improving their overall quality of life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started my career at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in Southern California when I was 24 years old. I learned the ins and outs of the wealth management industry while building my business from scratch. Over time, I grew my client base from zero to many and managed approximately $330 million of investments for my clients. However, I decided to start all over when I left the corporate world in 2011 to become an entrepreneur. As the founder and president of Pacific Capital, a fiduciary wealth management family office, my mission is to serve First Generation Entrepreneurs – wealth creators and entrepreneurs with at least $10 million to invest. Currently, this is our focus. Our clients are not only based in California but also spread across the country. We serve 40% of our clients in California and 60% outside of it. Our goal is to help clients enjoy life by removing their stress about money. We strive to increase their financial and lifestyle freedom, reduce their taxes, and give them more time to enjoy the things they love. Ultimately, our focus is on clients’ mindsets and psychographics rather than their geographic location.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building a social media presence requires time, discipline, and authenticity. Initially, I struggled with sharing my true self, frequently posting and deleting content. I realized that when I shared detailed business content, it garnered less interest. However, when I embraced transparency and authenticity, everything changed.
My strategy involves posting quality content frequently, targeting a specific audience, and ensuring my marketing attracts the right people while repelling the wrong ones. My posts aim to teach, inspire, motivate, and entertain, always highlighting who we serve and how. Regular posting and engagement help me stay top of mind with my audience
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
My management and entrepreneurial philosophy have been greatly influenced by the Strategic Coach program and Dan Sullivan’s coaching. I’m an avid reader and follower of Dr. Benjamin Hardy’s work. Additionally, being part of MasterMind groups with growth-focused entrepreneurs has been invaluable in shaping my approach to business and personal development.
