We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chad Rivera a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chad, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Art has always been a my form of expression. Since I was a kiddo, I’ve written songs, sang, cried about it, then sang again. I would imagine myself on stage, or how I can make the song in my head come to life. If I were to choose the art-form I find the most passionate, it would be music. I still love doing hair, makeup, and film, but I find when I sing, or hear a song I’ve made, it connects with me on a much deeper level.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m from the small Island of Guåhan. Being of CHamoru decent, I’ve grown up being thoughtful, welcoming, and always offering food when someone comes over. I started to learn how to produce – although, It might not be the best-my music and post it on YouTube, then later music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. Knowing that even a small amount of supporters continue to listen to what I put out feels amazing. But what makes me feel even better, is them telling me how they relate to them.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal, is to be able to share who I am, and connect with people love the music I make. On top of that, even collaborate with other artists, and share more stories through concerts, and tracks.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Knowing that I can transform the pain, happiness, longing, and multiple other emotions, into the music.
