We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chachi Midencey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chachi below.
Hi Chachi, thanks for joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
A lot of times when you’re doing underground, pop-ups equipment isn’t the best. It constantly goes out. Doesn’t run correctly. I mean, the list goes on. I ran my personal apartment oven into the ground from doing pop-ups out of my place. You basically resolve them by just being a MacGyver.

Chachi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Chachi, I originally got a cooking because I wanted to be a chef since I was young. Originally I got into the industry wandering the streets of San Francisco asking any chefs I saw on a cigarette break if they would hire me. Eventually, one hired me to be a dishwasher. Problems are typically solved for clients are their hunger! I think it sets me apart from the rest is my sense of humor and social media presence. I think a lot of of my Commonly seen in the US. Except I typically put my fine experience forward towards these common foods. I’m so proud that starting this business I had made a promise to myself to always do what I want and say what I want so I can stay original. Not only was able to do that but the people who follow me were able to help me succeed tremendously because of it. Not only that they accept me for who I was, but they loved it.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started the pop-up, I had to have a part-time job at MOD Pizza. I remember really not liking it there. Just my coworkers in general were kind of dickheads. One morning I woke up and had to amazing reviews into reputable publications. I knew at that point I’d be able to quit my day job to pursue my company full-time. And that was a huge step for me. I walked in for my shift at MOD and asked if I could take my lunch early. I made my pizza got my dessert and my soda, then I walked out and said I quit.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I can ask this question all the time and how I built my audience and social media was just literally posting what I thought was funny. I would find clips whether it be on YouTube or TikTok. I would record them and then I would add my own text over them with the details of the pop-up. This was just something I did because I thought it was personally hilarious getting stoned to the bone on the couch. I wish it was more interesting of an answer, but honestly, this is what I did.
