We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cesar Huchim. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cesar below.
Cesar, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
When I was young, I developed a passion for music. I admired bands so much I decided to learn to play guitar. I never got lessons, I was just so determined to learn, I picked up a guitar and played until I figured it out. I continue to further develop my talents.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started getting really into music when I was 14. I started learning guitar on my own. Around that time, I asked my friend, Dylan Turner from school if he’d play music with me. He had been playing bass for church worship group. We didn’t have a drummer so he and I would just jam in the music building at our school. Fast forward a year, I go to a different school. I met my friend Larenzo Floyd who plays drums. I was still in contact with Dylan so I asked if he wanted a jam session with us. He agreed and the three of us practiced for the first time at a church. Since then, we started making music together.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the expressing myself and sharing my own perspective with the world. With music as a platform, I can share my emotions, experiences and talents. It brings a unique way of connecting with others, it’s part of my identity. It’s always so rewarding seeing the ideas you have in your head come to life. Seeing it all come together and afterwards thinking to yourself “Wow, I made this,” especially when it was all with your friends.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
To just have fun with it. I think having fun with my creative journey is a goal in itself. If you’re looking for a more direct answer, I guess my primary focus is using music as an outlet for emotions. My goal is to create music that resonates with others. Or music that I think sounds good. Who knows?
