We were lucky to catch up with Celines Estevez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Celines, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I recently got back from a solo trip to Egypt. And as a female, you can imagine that I was heavily advised by many to strongly reconsider. This is the biggest life-changing risk I have ever done and by far the best one. Initially, I wanted to go to Egypt for the obvious bucket list cross-off, but going alone gave me the ultimate experience I did not expect to have. I created deep connections with the Egyptian locals and learned so much about myself and life. It was risky for me to leave my country for awhile, especially during the acting industry’s busiest time, pilot season. I told my agents that I was booked out during the days I was in Egypt and I did nothing acting or work releated while I was there. Surprisingly, this solo trip to Egypt has fueled my artistry and has inspired me in so many ways. I am forever greatful for this life-changing experience!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was raised in South Florida in a Puerto Rican household and discovered a keen interest in acting when I began training at Donna Tucci’s School of Dance. Since a young age, I loved performing on stage and it was in high school that I dedicated my future goals to acting. In 2018, I was honored with a prestigious National Award in theater by YoungArts for two on-stage performances. Since then I trained at top acting studios all around the nation. Then was recruited by a talent agency where I officially stepped foot into show business.
Some of my notable projects are: recurring star in Amazon Prime Video’s Life’s Rewards (TV series), Discord (the movie) starring Danny DeVito, and NBC’s Found (TV series).
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
You may think this is weird but I wish that I took my career less seriously. During the past 4 years working professionally, I learned that no matter how far you get into your career, it’s still going to be a challenge. So you might as well enjoy it to the fullest. Plus when you focus more on the art and the love of your craft, you’ll find yourself a lot more consistent because you’re having fun instead of being serious all of the time. Of course, you want to be disciplined and logical when it comes to sustaining a creative career but it’s imperative that you continue to have fun and enjoy. Whatever fun means to you, do it. Because no matter what you do in life, it will relate to your craft. Life experiences is what will inspire you as an artist. Fuel your life with passion and express yourself with the feelings that come from it. That is what I found that made me a better actor. Loving my life and all of the experiences from it to color up my characters. It is truly a beautiful thing to do.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Acting is a form of celebrating life. Since life is the most beautiful gift God has given us, I want to express my love for being alive. Acting allows me to connect in a deep level with many people. It also has the power to teach, heal, and inspire others. Acting is what fuels my soul with passion and is a way for me to connect with humanity. It is a blessing to be able to do such a thing as a career.
