Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Celine Advincula . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Celine , appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I am a big believer that success looks differently for everyone and what a beautiful thing.
To me success is having the ultimate freedom to choose what your day to day looks like. Success is spending quality time with the people you love and making the world a better place one day at a time. It’s getting out of bed with purpose and fulfillment. Success feels like kindness and respect.
Being the youngest of four strong girls, my older sisters truly cultivated the path for me. Speaking life into me, building that confidence- that whatever I put my mind to I can achieve. There is so much love in my home that I feel invincible. It truly takes a village. They say “if you want to go fast go alone. if you want to go far, go together”.
Being successful requires investment in oneself, curiosity, discipline, determination, teamwork, and love
The love and support I have today has propelled me into the pursuit of excellence.
Celine , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I come from a big family, predominantly whom are which-woman. I’ve won the lotto and was given a built in sorority house.
In this sorority house I am so grateful to say that there is incredible support, deep interest to grow, and accountability.
It was a no brainer to me to be in the beauty industry as I am a complete extroverted girly girl, who loves making people feel and look beautiful. It also doesn’t hurt that my two fabulous aunts and wonderful sister also do hair.
Right after high school I went to beauty school determined to really make something of myself. This is where team (my older sisters/ cool hairstylist aunties) really came into play- as they encouraged me constantly to shoot for the stars, and letting me know I was capable of so much more than even I could imagine. I believe them because I see that they are achieving the goals they set for themselves.
After completing 1600 hours and receiving my license, my phone rang. It was from my sister Bianca, who is a stylist at UMBERTO salon in Beverly Hills. She informed me that an incredibly talented stylist named Gina, was looking for an assistant!! What a serendipitous moment I was filled with joy.
Thus my foot in the door to the incredible world of hair. My mentor Gina is the most fantastic, kind, and generous teacher I could’ve had. I assisted her for 2.5 years where I learned technique, formulation, professionalism and so much more.
Then COVID happened and along with the world, salons shut down. It was in this moment that I had the ability to sit with myself and put my dreams into fruition.
Once the salons got up and running,
I was finally on the floor able to take my own clients. It was such an interesting time as I got to build new relationships be creative, and most importantly connect with others after being isolated for so long.
I truly believe that this “coming back to society” has enriched my experience as a hairstylist because everyone was in such a vulnerable place.
Women were growing out their grey hair, cutting and coloring- experimenting to say the least; showing different parts of their personality while also searching for their spark.
This time has set me apart from others in my industry, not only because I was a new stylist but because I genuinely wanted women to feel seen and im not talking about just through appearances.
I am so proud of the continuous effort to connect with my clients, to be creative and ultimately have so much fun and passion for what I do. I really could not imagine myself doing anything else. Also, I love the flexibility and freedom to come and go as I please, and build a community of clients who value and nourish that too.
I do everything from haircuts, to hand, tied extensions, to color and I love everything about it.
The key is to fail your way to success. Remember that mistakes will happen and that is the only way you will grow. Always give 110%. Never give up and most importantly, find the joy and everything that you do.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals have been my best friend. Thank you to everyone that has shout out my name and shared the love. I am so grateful!
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I am a big fan of Ed Mylett, Les Brown, Jay Shetty, Mel Robins, Brenae Brown and Tony Robins. The most important thing I have found is to stay curious and have a thirst and hunger for knowledge.
