We recently connected with Celeste Gomez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Celeste, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about growing your team – how did you recruit the first few people, what was the process like, how’d you go about training and if you were to start over today would you have done anything differently?
When it comes to writing a book the writing and editing fell on me and I knew exactly how I wanted to structure my first book. Wanting to be an Author, I knew I would need to lean on community to help. From having proofreaders to having a Translation Team for the Spanish Version, to now having a Virtual Assistant to help me get my book into multiple bookstores. My Virtual Assistant has helped me contact bookstores across the U.S. and Mexico. We come together to help plan my book tour, marketing strategies, and social media growth. When I reached out to my Virtual Assistant, this would be our first time working together, and I wrote out strategies for her to do. Being very detailed in my tasks for her was very helpful!

Celeste, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
La Poeta Publications is my company, I have built it to show people how they can publish by sharing my journey of what I went through. I only offer advice, writing tips, and workshops for creatives. I know in the feature I would love to turn it into a publishing company to service the community in Los Angeles/Inland Empire and neighboring areas. My first book Besos was self-published and I’m working on book 2 – I know I didn’t want to focus my site on just one book, but more than that that’s why La Poeta Publications came because I know it would evolve into something more.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My biggest goal for my writing journey is to operate a Publishing House of my own and travel the world to perform my poetry to build community. Poetry is a beautiful language that resonates with others.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’m still building myself on social media, but the biggest lesson I’ve learned is to just post and trust in yourself. I know as a poet/writer it can be very scary to post your work, but that’s how you overcome the fear by just posting it and keeping at it. I know posting can take time, so you can look into free social media scheduling tools like Metricool!
