We recently connected with Celeste Debro and have shared our conversation below.
Celeste, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Music has always been apart of me since I can remember remembering. Sound and lyrics have a certain power that transports us to and from places without going anywhere. I thought I would be only a creative in this business but once I learned the business side, I was driven on how to solve problems within the industry (mainly among independent artist). In the rise of the Independent, it became apparent through coaching and planning for artists that I realized the lack of education and strategy that takes place. Luckily, I fell into management and that got me deeper into the strategy, wearing a million hats and learning how to make money from the ground up. As time went on, I become more divested in the Atlanta music scene and wanted to create more infrastructure and knowledge in my community. I decided to go and become a Music Supervisor to do my part in helping to create and share other avenues in this business. My hope is that the foundation I and my peers are laying lead to more trusted individuals becoming interested in the music business and more creatives staying in Georgia to create and to make money.

Celeste, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Celeste Debro is a Music Supervisor for creative control and Tyler Perry Studios and a Talent Manager. She has worked on shows including Zatima, Young Dylan, Caught Up and All The Queen’s Men. Her Films include: Mea Culpa, Bleeding Love, Divorce In The Black and Oscar nominated film The Six Triple Eight.
She prides herself on being an advocate, curator, and problem solver for independent music artists. Celeste has inserted value and understanding into artists’ lives through strategic planning, self-discovery, creative and funding solutions that give them the knowledge and confidence to gain their own successes.
More recently I have developed a community called SoundScales Music Business Mentor Group that is dedicated to educating artists and music professionals. We have class once a month along with weekly discussions. The goal is to educate our ecosystem and have more people reach sustainability and success in the music industry. This community is hands on and interactive.
FRSH WAV is the latest venture along with my partner Ricardo Spicer. We are a catalog management company specializing in legacy catalog for sync, marketing and distribution. From my knowledge this is the first company to combine these disciplines in Georgia and we are adamant about serving our music community here and beyond and providing them with tools they may not have the bandwidth to handle on their own. We pride ourselves in thinking ahead and reimagining evergreen music for the next generations.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Just because you knock on a door doesn’t mean it will be answered. I think in the world of entrepreneurship, many people get discouraged due to all the unanswered opportunities. It took awhile to realize that all the shut doors were just leading me to where I was supposed to be. So now instead of looking at a shut door as failure or rejection, I look at is as road map.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
A New Earth by Eckart Tolle. This book, especially from being in a management role really helped me separate the title from me as a person. Often times in management, we get caught up in the client and lose a lot of ourselves. A New Earth helped me to rediscover self and it opened up a lot of things for me personally and in return it paid off for my clients as well.
