Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cee Tha Gxdd. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cee, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
“Love Is War” would have to be one of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on so far. The album was originally supposed to drop in 2021 but I kept having to push it back. See every song off that album was created in Walmart parking lot lol. I I used to work overnight and around this time I was learning how to make music off a phone so on every shift, when they gave me that hour break I was in the whip making hits. My support system, I call them Gxdd Gang, been asking me for a album every since Have You Like blew so I been knew it was time for one. Those 8 hour shifts people be working, I know I pulled me more than 3 of them messing round with this album. It was songs like “Done Witcha” that had to be recorded more than once because the feel just wasn’t there but when it all came together it was beautiful. “Love Is War” is laid out like a real love story. You just have to give it a listen all the way through.

Cee, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For starters, I’m 20, and I’m from Birmingham, Alabama. I feel like I was kinda thrown into the “industry” though. Mostly because the clip that gave me attention was at least a year old. The song wasn’t recorded or anything but everyone was asking for it so I had to gone do what it do. Every since then I just been going strong with the music. I put my everything into my craft. I know a lot of this wouldn’t be possible if I ain’t have my supporters by side. They always pushing me to keep going.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
People always ask about the music but never ask why we do what we do so I’m more than happy to answer this one. When I tell y’all I came from nothing I mean nothing. Seeing my family struggling all these years put a drive in me that I can’t even put into words. All I know is I gotta make it out. I gotta make a change. Those tears that fall from my people’s eyes, I be feeling in my soul so deeply. Every time I wanna give up I just think about them and how this is way bigger than. To the point my emotions don’t even matter. Before I leave here it’s goal to build generational wealth for everybody coming up behind me. Never will they struggle again.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Ima have to give it to my supporters again on this one. This world so filled with hate and jealousy so when someone tells me I touched they heart with one of my songs. That is truly fulfilling.
