We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cee Sands a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Yes i certainly am happy there’s no limitations as to what you can do.In Addition, having a job teaches you more discipline and helps you to be more strategic in what you do. Nobody wants to work for someone forever. You live and learn and try to drought down as many key points you can so when you’re on your own you would know how to manage and maintain for yourself.Personally, for me it gives me drive and motivation and keeps me active, rather than just sitting around and not being productive. As for now i took a break from working an actual job and decided to go full time into being a creative. I actually get paid now just to create content for brands and being their ambassadors. I love being in front of the camera just as much as being behind it. I find joy in creating and even helping friends around me with their content. i be like a mini hype man for myself and others and that keeps me going .
Cee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Candice better known as Cee Sands. I am a hard-working, Multifaceted and driven individual who isn’t afraid to face a challenge. I never put a limit on what i can do if i can do it all , trust and believe that i would execute everything i put my mind to! I’m passionate about my work and I know how to get the job done. I would describe myself as an open and honest person who doesn’t believe in misleading other people and tries to be fair in everything I do. Being a full time creative wasnt hard for me because i would always keep up with trending content and exude an energy that just simply fits the ambiance.
Im normally ecstatic when i receive so many messages from social media friends that always wants me to either take their photo, create their videos or just simply asking for guidance on content tips. My most happy moments are when I’m just creating and posting and would have brands reach out to me to work with them to promote their brands while being paid ofcourse!
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
This sounds crazy but i was in the process of finding new wigs for an install and i stumbled across a bomb hair vendor. I tried their wigs and decided to post on my story on instagram and within that week i was able to accumulate over 2K in sales after sharing my review and showing off the product. I always get support from my followers simply by being authentically me and giving an honest opinion. It wasn’t something that was planned but it gave me an idea as to if i wanted to branch out doing that it can be a lucrative business for me.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
“If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
“This is the first lesson I unlearned as an adult and a professional who wanted to be forward-moving and progressive. Holding your tongue as an adult can be detrimental to your mental health, your character, and the trajectory of your career. I learned as an adult to make unfavorable comments with a kind delivery. You don’t have to hold your perspective back! Just be sure your delivery has impact followed by action.’
