Cedric, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first wanted to purse a creative/artistic path professionally when I saw Michael Jackson in person at the Super Bowl in 1993.
Cedric, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi I’m a singer songwriter, pianist and an actor professionally known as Sedríque. I got into the music industry professionally in 2015 when I release my first EP entitled Nothin But Time produced by Dutch Duo Chris Kooreman & Edo Plasschaert. As an actor I’ve done 1 national commercial, and also a guest star on a new pilot. What sets me a part from others is the ability to lay down my own background vocals, produce keyboard/piano tracks, and be a vocal arranger. I’m most proud of being able to fund and release my own music, and music videos as an independent artist. The main thing I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know about my brand is that I’m always going to give you all of me and with excellence.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Creatives would struggle to understand why the amount of hours/money you put in a project sometimes doesn’t yield a ROI. In my opinion if you invest in yourself and the product is good your ROI doesn’t necessary come right away. Your product may get your foot in the door that would normally be closed. I’m on this journey because being a creative is what I was born to do.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist for me is having people tell you that your music moved them and that they could relate.
