We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cedric Francis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cedric below.
Cedric, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with talking about how you serve the underserved, because in our view this is one of the most important things the small business community does for society – by serving those who the giant corporations ignore, small business helps create a more inclusive and just world for all of us.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a native Houstonian and the lead pastor of the New Direction Community Church in the Fifth-Ward community. An adoring husband and devoted family man. The youngest of 5 sibling and a United States Army veteran. As a Pastor with a heart and concern for people I saw that the lack of resources and the needs of the community members were great. So I formed an outreach campaign called “Meet the Streets” to learn more about how my congregation and I could better serve 5th ward.
This outreach campaign uncovered that the 5th ward community had needs that exceeded what I originally could see. Uncovering that the community had a great need for compassion, concern, resources and basic life supports led to the “Meet the Streets” campaign becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
In 2016 Meet the Streets became an official non-profit organization serving the 5th ward community. We are committed to providing resource to those who live in poverty stricken areas, to socially empower them, and assist with their personal development.
Meet the streets is dedicated to encouraging, and supporting the less fortunate to assist them with living healthier more productive lives.
Meet the Streets has served over 30,000 hot meals to the community members. Hosted quarterly community clothing give a ways. Given out more than 1500 hygiene bags and over 10,000 pairs of socks in partnership with Bombas Socks. Hosted annual back to school event and assisted single mothers with rental assistance. Participated in Christmas give a way with Dogan Elementary in Houston Independent School District and much more.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
A genuine heart of compassion, concern and desire to see people helped. To see theirs lives impacted and changed.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
By leading with a pure heart and the mindset that people are always first. The people you serve as well as the people you serve alongside.
