We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cedric Bacon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cedric, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
How I learned what I know now was pure curiosity! I was obsessed with the structure of the moon and everything that I delved into photography wise was because of that. I actually caught on fast, so their was nothing I could do to speed up the progress of learning. The most essential skill I learned starting out is to pay attention to detail, emotions and expressions, all make up for a great photo. The only obstacle I encountered when starting out is which path I wanted take serious, nature or portraits. It wasn’t a tough decision because I loved both.
Cedric, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey, my name is Cedric Bacon and I got into photography by having an obsession with astrology and nature. I was amazed to see stars, planets and even galaxy’s during long exposure shots that I would take. The details and curiosity of it all is what caught my eye and I’ve been hooked on photography ever since. I now do more portrait photography and I offer a range of services from weddings to headshots and a lot more. I’m the most proud of how fast my business and photography skills has improved over the last 3 years. The main problems I solve for clients is how to pose in particular outfits and giving them ideas to come up with for their photo sessions.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I actually used my 9-5 to fund my business, so when I resigned, I was good to go. I advise all beginning entrepreneurs to not rush into it. Work your business and your 9-5 until you’re ready to take that leap of faith. You’ll know when it’s time.

Yes, there are a lot of classes you can take in skillshare. They have all you’ll ever need for any business you may have. It’s a very informative site!
