We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cecilia Nieves. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cecilia below.
Cecilia, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
AnimalLuvr’s Dream Rescue is one of many animal rescues in the Tampa Bay Area and we are proud to have such an animal loving community right here. What we do differently is that we focus on the medically needy, not easy to adopt, homeless pets from our very own local community. We understand that it is easier and more profitable to adopt out puppies, kittens and the popular breeds – but that leaves thousands of others that continuously get looked over. We will continue to serve and help our local community in hopes that some day we can spread out further to help other counties and states.
Another thing that sets us apart is that we will provide any and all veterinary care needed for our rescue fur babies. This typically ranges from hundreds to thousands of dollars. We are fully donation and volunteer based so we truly need our community support to continue to save more lives.

Cecilia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Founded in 2012 by Cecilia Nieves, AnimalLuvrs Dream Rescue was designed to help those animals that were in need of medical attention while searching for their furever homes right here in our beautiful Tampa Bay.
With her extensive background in veterinary medicine and animal care, Cecilia was determined
to help as many animals as she could that required a wide range medical treatment. Over the years ALDR
has grown into a large family of volunteers who share Cecilia’s passion for rescue and have come together
through fostering, fundraising, transportation for appointments, and so much more.
With the hard work and dedication of our ever-growing rescue family, ALDR received the honor of
becoming a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2013.
With the help of our friends at several veterinary hospitals, local shelters, and our many dedicated volunteers, we have been able to rescue, heal and find furever homes for over 2,000 pets in need.
In order to continue – we truly need our community to help by volunteering, fostering, adopting, donating and sponsoring. Spreading the word of our mission truly helps other know that we exist and shares our mission.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
AnimalLuvr’s Dream Rescue, inc prides itself on building positive community relationships with our municipal county shelters, fellow rescue groups and especially with the local veterinary community that helps us save lives every day. Cecilia has been in the veterinary field for over 20 years and has build an incredible networking circle – but with that we need to nurture those relationships and help each other where ever we can. It seems that within the rescue world there is a lot of tension, drama and at times competition when there really shouldn’t be. We are all in this to help the animals. Everyone will do things a little differently. We should find a way to be a supportive community and work together to solve the issues we see daily of dumped animals, neglected animals and our community struggling to keep their pets in the current economy and society.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
My whole life has and continues to be a learning experience and adventure. Growing up I would spend countless hours at the library going through all the animal and veterinary medicine books I could find. As I grew up and times changed, I would read veterinary magazines and online articles before I even understand most of the science and terminology behind it. It college I focused on pre-vet track and then certified in veterinary technology (aka nursing) as I learned everything I could working in different areas of the field.
Every day, in every field, we learn new things. The biggest thing is to have an open mind to it and adapting throughout our life.
