Cecilia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

During my exchange period at Chiba University, I had the incredible opportunity to work on a project that would shape not only my career but also the lives of the people in Thailand. The challenge was to design a new building for public use that would integrate various functions, including a library, a hostel, an information center, and other public spaces. The project was part of a competition, and to my delight, I was awarded the first prize.

The inspiration for this project came from my deep fascination with Thai culture and the desire to create a space that would serve as a hub for community engagement and cultural exchange. I spent countless hours researching Thai architecture, studying traditional building techniques, and immersing myself in the rich heritage of the country. This endeavor allowed me to gain a profound appreciation for the unique architectural elements that define Thailand’s identity.

The memories and lessons I gained from working on this project in Thailand will forever hold a special place in my heart. It reinforced my commitment to designing spaces that reflect the essence of a community and contribute to its social, cultural, and economic development.

I am a 27-year-old architect with a passion for design and a wealth of international experience. Originally from Italy, my architectural journey has taken me to incredible places like Japan and the United States, shaping me into the architect I am today.

Growing up in Italy, I was fortunate to be immersed in a rich architectural heritage. The country’s timeless designs, intricate detailing, and emphasis on craftsmanship influenced my early development and nurtured a deep appreciation for classic styles. This foundation continues to inspire me as I explore new avenues of creativity.

Seeking fresh perspectives, I embarked on an adventure to Japan, where I spent a transformative year. The minimalist aesthetics, harmonious integration with nature, and meticulous attention to detail in Japanese architecture captivated me. During my time there, I honed my skills in spatial planning, innovative use of materials, and the art of creating serene and functional spaces.

Driven by a thirst for new challenges, I set my sights on the United States, particularly the vibrant city of New York. Here, I have had the privilege of immersing myself in a dynamic architectural scene that embraces diversity, creativity, and cutting-edge technologies. The energy of New York City has fueled my imagination and encouraged me to push the boundaries of design.

I am proud to say that my work has garnered attention and recognition, with many of my projects being published on various websites. This exposure has allowed me to connect with a wider audience and share my passion for architecture with others in the field. I am motivated by the opportunity to inspire and contribute positively to the built environment.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

As an architect, my creative journey is fueled by a specific mission and set of goals. One of my primary aspirations is to create inspiring spaces that evoke emotions and uplift people. I believe in the power of architecture to shape human experiences, and I strive to design environments that promote well-being, foster a sense of community, and leave a lasting impact on those who inhabit them.

A key driving force behind my work is the challenge of solving design problems. I find immense satisfaction in analyzing complex requirements, understanding the needs of my clients, and developing innovative solutions that balance functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability. With each project, I aim to create spaces that not only meet practical needs but also inspire and delight.

Beyond the individual projects I undertake, I see my role as an architect as one that contributes to the larger built environment. I am committed to shaping cities and communities in a positive way, making them more sustainable, inclusive, and socially responsible. I strive to design with an awareness of the environmental impact, incorporating energy-efficient systems, sustainable materials, and strategies that promote resilience in the face of climate change.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

As an architect, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative professional is the ability to bring my ideas to life and witness the tangible impact they have on people’s lives. Seeing a design concept evolve from sketches and renderings into a physical structure that people inhabit and interact with is incredibly fulfilling.

I find great satisfaction in knowing that my architectural creations have the potential to inspire, uplift, and improve the well-being of individuals and communities. When I see people appreciating and enjoying the spaces I’ve designed, it reinforces my belief in the transformative power of architecture.
