Cecelia , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My journey with my first company lead me to start my business now. How? I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. I really didn’t know what to do as an entrepreneur. God gave me the idea to do real estate. This was so different from what I did in the medical field. I was scared to do it’. Finally one day I realized that I was sick and tired of living from paycheck to paycheck. So I decided to do real estate. I decided to buy a real estate franchise. I was excited. So I went to talk to my 2 male friends who owned a real estate franchise. I was excited to tell them about my new real estate franchise. I just knew they would help me and support me. I was totally wrong. What they told me changed my life. I was told that I could never be successful as as real estate franchise owner because I was a women. I was devastated. I didn’t let them know how hurt I was. They were my friend.s. At least I thought they were. My superpower is when people tell me I can’t do something. I do it to prove them wrong. This was an important moment in my journey. What I found out that in 2007 there were only a handful of women who owned a real estate franchise in Houston. The majority of the real estate franchise owners in were male dominated. I was determined to make my real estate franchise successful. I learned how to run a successful real estate franchise by being “self-taught” and trail and error. Did I say that 3 months after I opened my real estate franchise we had the housing crash in 2007?
Even during the housing crash. I learned how to build a business from the ground floor. My real estate franchise became #1 in Texas. I always call those guys who said I couldn’t do it to say thank you. To tell you the truth.. I just wanted them to know what a women who was driven can do. That was what I needed to stop being scared. This part of my journey made me think about other women entrepreneurs going into business in a man’s world.
I was blessed that god helped me. I can say it was hard trying to figure out how to start a business as a women. Not only do we have to know how to build a business but we have to mentally prepare for our obstacles because we are women. That is why I started my second company “Empower Business Group”. As a start up coach I am able to empower future women entrepreneurs. I help them build a business from the ground up. Most important I teach them how sit at the table with confidence with a room full of men. I have a strong conviction to teach women and future girl bosses “You are more then who you think you are”
Now my clients are empowered to be a boss in a man’s world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
Great question. My journey started in 2007. I had a dream to buy my first company which was a real estate franchise. I am going to keep it real right now. I I had a dream but my credit in 2007 was bad. I also had student loans. No one wanted to lend me money. I was desperate so I went to my bank to tell them about my dream. They said “No”. This was the same bank that my money was in. That was the most stressful time as a new entrepreneur finding money to fund your business. I was working with real estate investor. at that time. He told me about business credit. That was another important part of my entrepreneurship journey. I learned how to build business credit correctly. That success tip transformed my business. I now could finance my real estate franchise without using my ssn. I use my business credit to fund all my other businesses..
Through that experience I created My EBG Business Credit building program: I new entrepreneurs build business credit.
In our program
*You will have a mentor to guide you thru the program to start your business credit.
*We has over 300 credit vendors under one roof. They are vendors who work with new companies under 2 years old.
Now I am able to help new entrepreneurs tackle one of the biggest obstacles of new business ownership.
How to fund your business.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
As a women business owner I was always insecure about starting a business. I’ve always been told by men in my circle that women were not successful in my area real estate. Thru my journey and being driven to prove those men that I could buy a real estate franchise and be successful as a women owner.
Though that journey I learned that women can sit at the table with confidence with a majority of men. The women I was in 2007 was no longer insecure.. She is confident and driven. Did I say a very successful women who now sits at the head of the table. My role is to empower other women entrepreneurs to sit at the table with the majority of men in business with confidence.
My passion is also empowering the next generation of the future girl bosses. To help thento prepare to set at the table.
