We recently connected with Cecee Marie and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cecee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
When it comes to skin care it can “defined” several ways. Routine, skin health and complete understanding of anatomy all play a part. Breakout, dry skin or hyperpigmentation is one thing, but what is the true cause? Does your Esthetician or Dermatologist get to the root of the problem?? When it comes to my clients I ask questions as it relates to life’s and preference. Although I can not diagnose I can assess and come up with a strategic plan. It amazes me when I get referrals and they say they have never been asked in-depth questions before. My clients needs are always at the forefront of decisions made in the best interest of them. My integrity is on the line. There is more to a facial than just washing someone’s face.
Makeup is just as detailed. Is skin type or condition taken in to consideration?? Or is the brand of makeup more important?? Are you doing skin prep prior to the application? These are all things I take into account for every client. I am the bridge between both worlds. This allows me to give the best experience and give them a reason to return. Therefore… KEEPING ME IN BUSINESS!!!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Most people know me as Cecee Marie, I am a Skin Therapist, Film/TV MUA, a business owner and a MOM. I have been the industry almost 20yrs (I’m still baffled when I say it aloud).
I love what I do and really can’t imagine doing anything else. It brings instant gratification to be able to change my clients lives. Now don’t get me wrong sometimes it can be a process, but I am so grateful to go on the journey with them. Building confidence and self esteem is the best act of service (in my opinion).
I specialize in “getting results”… but with realistic guarantees. The goal is to work together to reach the expectations of the clients. I do what I can as the professional while reminding them that they have to put in work… it’s called teamwork. I listen to the needs and wants of each individual. In doing so I was also able to create a skin care line for them customized to fit their needs (my GLOW BALM is in high demand).
I love the world of beauty because it’s always evolving which allows me to thrive creatively. I’m always researching and testing the latest trend to to incorporate into my services. Keeping up with the industry allows me to stay working consistently, which intern keeps me relevant and able to be accessible.
Relatability is key in my line of work. I pride myself in catering to my clients (they are all spoiled, but I wouldn’t have it any other way LOL). My studio is a safe place to purge and insecurities and even decompress in some instances. Lives are changed…there is no better feeling.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building a business is not easy!!! It literally takes blood, sweat and tears… some many tears. I attribute my success to pushing thru. Now matter what obstacles have come up I have always given my 100% (and I always will). Being my authentic self has played a major role in attaining clients and booking jobs. I really don’t know any other way. Yes, social media is beneficial but for me word of mouth has been major!! My clients are so good with referrals. I have families and friend groups that come to me. Sometimes they even book together or same day. They keep me updated on whatever we talked about last and even invite me to parties and special events. A real extended family and the loyalty is real. I am so grateful to booked and BLESSED!!!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The pandemic was hard on everyone!! The unknown was scary. I was getting all kinds of calls… Could I just do them at my house?? Could I do zoom tutorials?? They even wanted to pay more then I charge (LOL). I did oblige some in order to maintain loyalty and appreciation.
But coming back was stressful. Accommodations for proper sanitation and hygiene was costly. So I was putting out more than I was bringing in. And how did I know that the people would come?? Everyone was affected financially…would they pay?? I trusted in God and did what had to be done.
They came back, in full force!! I never felt so happy. My passion was paying off. I was back like I never left.
