We recently connected with Cayhan Movaghari and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cayhan thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we move on to the questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a self-taught electronic music producer with a passion for live performing, that has turned into a love for music production; which has ultimately led me to create my own Record Label.
When trying to get started on my own, I found so many hoops you had to jump through just to distribute a song on a legitimate streaming service. I could only imagine how that obstacle was inhibiting so many other artists from sharing their work with the world.
Since our inception in 2021, with the help of my two co-founders (Josh Park & Paolo Garcia) we have been working with up & coming artists to highlight their creations & enable them to cast a wider net for their music to be heard.
Our biggest accomplish to date is charting #32 on Beatport’s Overall Top 100 Chart with our recent release ‘Killa Crew’ EP by Sagey, J. Park, & Chami (US).

Social media has become a major player in business nowadays. Do you manage your own social media?
I’ve always run my own social pages, and although it’s been overwhelming at times, I think it has enabled me to keep my finger on the pulse of my fans & what they want to see.
For example, social media gives me the ability to run live polls, & get instant feedback on new ideas, or events, or even branding directions.
For folks just starting out, I recommend prioritizing the social media platforms that the majority of your target audience is already using. From there, it’s really about finding your voice; Are you going to be funny? Are you going to be educational? Are you going to be selling your product through direct ads? or through story telling?

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
This one is easy for me because I truly love the work I am doing. Connecting people, organizing events, being hospitable to guests/staff – it’s what I enjoy doing even when I’m not working.
Since my start in entertainment, I have been able to provide opportunities for those around me, and I feel that reciprocation from one to another has fostered genuine relationships; that have blossomed into true friendships.
It’s within those friendships that I’ve been able to collaborate at the highest level.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Try to create a community within your business that people want to be a part of.
It’s important to create a unified brand & message for your team to want to promote/share within their personal lives, not just professional.
Another theme within the community aspect that is arguably hardest to maintain, but just as important, is providing purpose for each of your members w/ feedback loops in place to ensure you don’t generate blind spots for yourself.
Having clearly defined roles & expectations can lead to really great mutual outcomes for the individual, & the team.
