We recently connected with Cavasee-a and have shared our conversation below.
Cavasee-A, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I wanted to pursue a artistic path at the age of 5 . My mother recognizing this spark, and enrolled me in choir while attending kindergarten. She had the privilege of witnessing my solo performance. I began playing violin in third grade and quit playing after my 78-year-old instructor passed away. A new interest for the bass guitar started while remaining in choir throughout high school. After Graduating In 1996 , Aims Community College offered a free semester to high school students with a 3.5 grade average or higher. So I seized the opportunity to study Music Theory and Audio production.
I worked at a company called Ultimate Support Systems while I was in college. We created stands for microphones, guitars, keyboards, and even built drum kit stands for Roland a well-known music brand . I started visiting various recording studios to gain experience. I collaborated with a few different producers Grinch from Maximus Productions and Jerry Telles from Knock Out Productions. A friend mentioned a producer named Roxmooth, so I went to his place and performed few verses. He encouraged me to keep practicing but ultimately turned me down. Two decades later, Roxmooth provided my brother and I with some of his music for our project . When I was about 19, I joined a group called Lyrical Platoon, but things went downhill when one member of the group sold the recording equipment. The group broke up shortly after .
In my twenties, I began making music with my brother, C-Nile Da Vincci. We were part of a group called King ProductionZ, along with two producers, Grand-A and Aztek . They had a brother named Baby Boy who could sing. I worked on five albums with them. Our last album was completed in 2019 during the Covid pandemic, and we only managed to perform one show in Fort Collins, Colorado, at Hodi’s Half Note before everything shut down for a few years. While in the group, I received a flyer from a company called CD Baby they are a music distribution company . I discussed it with the group, and we decided to try them out. They pressed and shrink-wrapped as many CDs as we needed, complete with barcodes ready for sale. We sold our CDs at the Finest music store and Hastings Music and Bookstore located in Colorado and Kansas . To this day, our crew drives an hour and a half to Denver, where we showcase our music at the Mile High Flea Market, capturing moments with photos and signing autographs for our growing fanbase—a beloved tradition of King ProductionZ
In 1999 My dear friend Kimberly extended an invitation to a Rave, This was an event that ignited my newfound passion for the pulsating rhythms of Hard House, Trance, Jungle, and Drum-N-Bass. DJ Swamp graced the decks in Boulder, Colorado, and it was a singular moment that transformed my musical journey. Dj Swamp dramatically lifted a record from the turntable, shattered it on the side a table ( At first I thought how Maddening is this guy ? ) and like magic he scratched the fragmented vinyl into a seamless new track. I was spellbound by his artistry as I watched him command the stage for the remainder of the evening. That very year, I diligently saved my funds to acquire my own turntables, adopting the name DJ Prana. I began crafting mix CDs featuring my own creations alongside the works of my favorite DJs from across the world. Each time I attended a Rave, I would either distribute copies of my music or collect contact information to mail off my CD mixes to new fans, expressing the spirit of P.L.U.R Peace Love Unity Respect and making new friendships that would last for years .

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Throughout my upbringing, I was immersed in a diverse array of music, which really helped me mix different genres effortlessly. I believe that creativity shouldn’t be limited to just one skill. I’m a certified Reiki Master, focusing on meditation healing for animals. In my free time, you can find me working on computer animation, painting, wood carving, recording my own tunes, exploring photography, or creating and editing videos . Back in 2005, my buddy David asked if I wanted to be part of The Guelstie Project by Troct Developer . He was creating RPG video games and needed music and sound effects for the game, which was something I had always wanted to do. I was super excited to help him out in any way I could. You can find some of the work we did together on YouTube Guelstie Elemental Awakening First Boss Concept .
In 2008, my brother C-Nile Da Vincci started a new group, PSA (Public Service Announcement), . We graced the stages of Northern Colorado, performing alongside notable acts such as Do Or Die, Canibus, Bad Cat, and Spice 1. During this vibrant period, I was also committed to a five-year contract at a call center. Once that chapter concluded, I returned to Aims Community College, only this time with a full scholarship, and proudly earned my certificate in Communications Media and an Associate’s degree in Audio Production at the age of 35.
In college, I took a Radio Broadcasting class. My high school friend, Kevin Mussman, works as a Radio DJ at 99.9 The Point. He came to our college to help teach the radio station class. One of our tasks was to create character voices and voiceovers for radio ads. I did a few characters from Sesame Street, which you can listen to on my Soundcloud. This was the first class to set up a new radio station at the college. We learned how to operate a radio station, and for the next few years, I was DJ Prana. The teacher let us play any music as long as it was appropriate, so I included my own music and tracks from independent artists in the playlist. My final project before graduating was to make a TV commercial for Aims College’s Audio Production degree. The commercial continues to air on the Aims channel, 13 years after I graduated. I play it every year on my instagram to help promote the college.
This achievement sparked a fresh idea in me: launching an online radio station through Spreaker.com. I reached out to artists on social media from all over the globe. At first, I didn’t hear back, but my friend Jasmine suggested using Google Translate to chat in their native languages. The responses I got were beyond what I expected! They were eager to submit their music for my station. My goal was to create a universal platform that celebrated every music genre from a independent artist, making sure no-one was left unheard. I provided links and timestamps for their songs, enabling them to share the moment with their own fans, thus weaving a tapestry of musical connection across the globe. It was my way of giving back to the world wide community . After all we are connected thru frequency , Eventually, I had to shut down the station due to funding issues, but I might start another one in the future. You can still catch my old radio show on my YouTube channel under Cavasee-A .
In 2011, I discovered the existence of two other DJs named Prana online, which posed a challenge in connecting with my audience. Thus, I embraced my new identity as an independent artist, adopting the name Cavasee-A. This name has since evolved into a registered trademark and Trade name, identifying myself as a Brand and introducing my distinctive musical style known as Eclectic Flo.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
There is nothing more satisfying than being able to share art or music with the community. I enjoy networking and collaborating with other artists . It can be very inspiring when ideas mix together because that’s when the magic happens. And now that social media is available you can make a song with artist like Esso from London without having to fly to London to get a beat . For example you can go to a website like Beatstars.com look up EssoMakesBeats and pay for a exclusive track and start making music. Its that easy these day to send a track in a email record it in a studio and send it back via email and in a few days have it ready to listen to on all streaming platforms.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In February 2024, my stepfather began assisting me in the construction of a soundproof booth for my recording studio .This was soon followed by several weeks dedicated to unboxing my music equipment, which I had preserved for more than thirty years. At that moment, everything in my life felt perfectly aligned, and I was poised to create something extraordinary. However, on March 12th, I was involved in a serious car accident .when a Jeep traveling 45 miles per hour T-Boned my passenger side and then flipped upside-down , This had a significant impact on my life.
I was out of work for three months following a minor head injury that led to ongoing post-concussive symptoms, which made it increasingly difficult to think, communicate, and even sleep. Additionally, I sustained fractures in my shoulder, pelvis, and the C5 vertebra in my neck. The medical staff informed me that if the fracture in my neck had been any worse , I could have been paralyzed . I am incredibly grateful to be alive. For three and a half months, my doctor mandated that I wear a neck brace at all times, even while sleeping or showering. During my hospital stay, I underwent physical therapy to regain my ability to walk after my pelvic injury. I also participated in a month of speech therapy to relearn reading and math skills, alongside music therapy aimed at enhancing my memory and motor functions.
The physician arranged for surgery on my left hand ; however, it was postponed until my discharge from the hospital a month later. My mother accompanied me to all my medical appointments . Requesting assistance from others proved challenging, particularly since I was accustomed to being self-reliant. I was uncertain about my ability to play any of my 12 instruments. after 9 months of hand therapy it is no longer a problem. My Cat Cali would go into my recording studio and sit in my chair encouraging me to continue creating music. This inspired me to name my record label after her, as well as feature her in artwork on Spotify.
Family , friends and customers from work visited me almost daily during my hospital stay, Providing support and raising funds to help with my medical expenses and other necessities. I was never alone, and I am sincerely thankful for everyone who contributed to my well-being. Additionally, faith in my creator played a significant role in my resilience. I viewed my situation as a temporary challenge, akin to a test of my strength believing that normalcy would eventually be restored in divine timing. Throughout those nine months, new music was released across various platforms, and I began to cultivate ideas for fresh artistic endeavors . I want to express my gratitude to some amazing individuals who greatly influenced this new journey. Bigga Kook, Nor Kin4life, Leash Da Beast, Queen Dia The Goddess, and Jason Capital Jay DeVore . Thank you for always being such a positive inspiration; y’all have reminded me that no matter what situation we may be going thru , there is always light at the end of it all . It is truly an honor to know you all. Much love and Respect From Colorado.
