Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Catolyn Merriweather. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Catolyn, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
His Mercy and Grace Inc. started in 2008 providing clothing, food and haircuts to the unhoused community. In 2016 we became a 501c-3 and started providing mobile showers along with food, clothing and haircuts. In 2020 during the start of the pandemic we began to provide employment services and partnered with other organizations to provide housing services and Covid vaccines. After renting shower trailers for almost 6 years we have finally received enough money to purchase our own shower trailer to provide mobile showers and other services more often.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a only child of 2 hearing-impaired parents. I grew up helping others and continue to do so on a broader scale. After seeing constant devastation within the unhoused communities with little or no assistance we decided to go into the community to find out what help they needed the most. After having those difficult conversations with the community we began to pull our funds together from our own pockets and asked for donations. We have been able to rent showers and partner with other organizations to provide what is needed.
What we are most proud of is being able to help at all. We are able to grow and add new services that help the unhoused community receive what they need.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Our journey has been difficult financially. We started with receiving clothes and food from friends and family. We combined our own monies to rent shower trailers to provide showers for 6 years on a quarterly basis. We now receive grants and large donations and able to purchase our own shower trailer to provide services more often.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped build our reputation is honesty and the services we provide. When we are asked to provide our services we show up on time, provide exceptional customer service and helps build pride and self-worth within the unhoused communities.
