We were lucky to catch up with Catilla Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Catilla, thanks for joining us today. I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
Sometimes I sit and think…what it would be like, to be a full time artist! Creating, living life to the fullest; whilst maintaining a healthy bank account balance. That’ll be great, to see my art in museum, hotels, staged homes, office buildings, business establishments, and restaurants. etc. Yes! I think about these things all the time while working a regular office 9-5pm job. I’d love to set on the coast of Italy, painting the scenic views of the Mediterranean Sea. I’d be happier as a full time creative artist than I am working a regular job.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi! My name is Catilla-LaShae: Smith, and I am a self-taught, multidisciplinary intuitive artist born in Santa Clara, CA. I create futuristic, past, present abstract paintings with land, sky, and sea-scape views.
My paintings are inspired by astro travels.
Art De LaShae Gift of Art provides luxurious pareidolia abstract art that makes you look twice!
I’m an intuitive painter, here to guid you on a reflective expressive self journey of exploration helping to make the connections between emotions and logic.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m currently pivoting right now. I took a dive of emotions and struggled to keep business afloat as an artist. I went days, weeks, months without painting. I took to other methods for staying creativity vibrant during an unexpected shit in life, causing me to pivot of course and into another direction. I look at life as art, so I’ll never be too depressed. How we choose to live our life is a form of artistic expression. I’m great full to find the beauty of life’s pivots.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal as an artist is to preserve the integrity of original ancient art that shapes our society. To uncover buried history, treasures, and restore balance.
