We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cathylee Morales a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cathylee, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk about keeping costs under control when growing. How have you managed to keep costs from getting out of control?

As the cost of products started increasing rapidly I knew instantly we needed to shift gears. We didn’t want to make our prices go up too. Instead we found alternatives way to still offer fun projects at budget friendly prices. We are a business who is geared towards families of all ages. We scaled back on doing more simple projects or smaller projects then keeping it upscale all the time.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

I met Jessica through a mutual friend. She insisted I meet Jessica because of my love and passion for art she had the same love and passion for food. Her dream was to teach her love of cooking to others. When we met I assisted she join and merge forces with me to create a one of a kind art entertainment business that would also include cooking classes. After much persuasion she said yes we join both businesses into one business and expanded Once Upon A Creation not just only arts and crafts but with culinary too. Jessica had been a huge asset to Once Upon. A Creation. Everyone loves her and everyone sees her passion and dedication to making the best experience possible though the art of food.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

We grew our clientele mainly off of social media and word of mouth. We became real and transparent but also love to show the fun we have at every event we host. Even if it’s just a few people. If it’s a party, workshops, cooking classes we love to post and show it all. Show our creativity and what we are capable of. People love to see the real experiences and we love showing that. We ask our customers to post a review after every event to let there friends and families know about us. Word of mouth is powerful and so is social media. Just one positive review, one tag, one post is all we need. The real, the raw the truth. We are customer service driven and we love letting our community see the fun experience Once Upon A Creation has to offer through arts, crafts and culinary!
