We were lucky to catch up with Cathy McKinnon recently and have shared our conversation below.

Cathy, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

To be honest, one of the greatest risks I’ve taken is to share my story, use my voice to help others. You see one of my greatest insecurities has been reflected to me through my journey. For as long as I can remember I feared standing out, I was the observer quietly in the background. However, to truly play all out with my vision, I had to heal and walk with the fear. I’ve work with some incredible coaches and mentors, and we always receive what we are in need of, no matter the coaching container various points, topics, quotes will stand out in our minds. Despite what our intention was when we signed up for the course or program, our intention is not all encompassing for what we need.

Here is a bit of what I’ve learned from my journey-

• Being seen is not numbers
• I’m different, edgy, a blend of feminine and power- it’s not for everyone
• Those that align will understand
• Pieces of my journey are for different women on different chapters of their journey
• To lead my son, my legacy, I must lead myself and show by my actions that it can be done

Being seen can be terrifying, yet absolutely freeing and 100% worth it to lead my legacy. This is simply, owning it. This is simply saying it’s time for change. This is saying I’m going to take the first step. This is why I truly believe I was put here for this work, to be a safe space for the women who join my coaching programs to truly be seen and heard. Stand boldly for your life, your legacy – those around you need you to take those steps to show it’s possible!

Cathy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

As a heart led entrepreneur my coaching container walks alongside women helping them gain clarity on the major facets of their life and start stepping into the gifts, confidence and magic they were born to share with the world! I serve women who know deep down they are meant for more and they are ready to take the steps to start embodying that version of themselves. I focus on helping my clients not only create the life they love but also the legacy they want to leave behind.

My coaching leaves women with confidence, growth, and healing so they can more effectively lead themselves, their families, their communities, their organizations …while thinking big.

What you see is just that, my imperfect journey as I do the work to refine my highest level self. I walk with gratitude and ambition towards the next level, the continual evolution, the next steps!

My work has been built from the stones that were thrown at me, I’ve taken those stones to build the life I have today so that I can lead others on their journey!

I am at this place today to help women take back their lives and their magic.

I’ve been told for decades I’m an old soul, through the lowest lows in my life ( infertility, cancer, abusive relationship, divorce) I was able to navigate with a calmness knowing I was intuitively following the right path despite how challenging it may have been.

I continue to do the hard work and put in the time to evolve my mission to help women shift their lives.

The women my clients have become have left me in tears with pride. They are showing up in an entirely new way, they are glowing!

I am grateful beyond words for my people/my network; you have brought me so much joy, laughter, and incredible conversations.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

Keeping in touch with my clients is at the heart of my business. As a heart led entrepreneur I truly care about my clients at the human level. I am in routine contact with not just current clients but also past clients as well. I am consistently checking in on how they are doing and that includes the state of their family and business (the 5 key areas my coaching is centered around). My contact with my clients is not transactional and as such many have become lifelong contacts; we truly care about each other and how we can help each other succeed. This becomes a delineating factor in a transactional, instant society. I want to know how they are, how I can help and what challenges they are facing; long after our coaching program has ended.

Have you ever had to pivot?

My life has been continual pivots! The agility has been the source of my multi-faceted life! My range can be confusing for some as I’m not into the titles or pigeonholing ourselves into a corner. I’m a mother, coach, author, Harley rider, travel junkie, I could go on…I can’t pick just one label and I don’t want to. As women we are multifaceted. We are leaders- in our households, communities, and organizations We are fueled by our vision and desire to impact the world. We lead with heart, grace, kindness- valuing relationships and connections We put others before ourselves We get our hands dirty, not afraid of doing what needs to be done We open our hearts and ears with compassion We are willing to do the messy inner work ourselves We are motivated by making an impact, creating shift and embodying our legacy We crave someone to help us see and value our strength and potential- walking unapologetically in our authenticity We honor and value ourselves taking care of and listening to our bodies We embrace our multifaceted layers We lead ourselves first We understand change happens through us. We are willing to have the deep conversations We walk in duality We see potential in everyone we meet and desire to help those around us rise Through it all, we know embodying your truth and honoring yourself is the key. Don’t fall into feeling like you have to pick just one, be them all, transition from one to another as you feel. Being you isn’t defined by when or how you embrace each role. Don’t fear your layers and range- embrace them, embody them. ✨
