We recently connected with Cathryn Guzman and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cathryn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
My journey into the world of business started with a simple yet profound realization: I had a passion for creativity and an innate ability to identify beauty in the world around me. This wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about understanding the deeper meaning behind what makes something truly resonate with people. I found myself drawn to the fashion industry in NYC, where I had the privilege of working alongside other creatives and professionals. Each set, each project, each publication, music video, campaign was an opportunity to learn and refine my craft.
I knew I wanted to do more—I wanted to help people unlock their highest potential and bring their visions to life. That’s when I understood that the key to success isn’t just about staying focused and putting in the hours. It’s about knowing your reason and intention behind every move you make. It’s about understanding your message, your values, and your purpose. This became the foundation of my business.
When I decided to transition into UX/UI design and social media management in 2024, it wasn’t just a career move—it was a manifestation of everything I’d been working towards. It was about using my skills to help businesses maintain a strong digital presence, especially in a time when small businesses need it most. But with that decision came a lot of discipline. I had to map out my goals, define my reach, and understand my impact on the industry.
Every step of the way, I ask myself: How can I align my work with my foundational goals? I truly believe that success is not just about the energy you put into something, but about the intention behind why you are doing it. When you are in alignment with your purpose, the people who need your help find you and you’ll find your business unfolding rather than forcing and chasing it.
Launching my business was a natural progression from there. It was about making connections, staying consistent, and always staying ahead of the curve. But most importantly, it was about staying true to my mission: to help others bring their ideas to life and to create something meaningful and lasting in the process.

Cathryn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Production has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up with an uncle in the production industry, I was captivated by film—the way it could bring any vision to life, evoke a range of emotions, and leave an indelible impact on those who experienced it. This early exposure ignited a passion in me, not just for the art of storytelling, but for the idea that creativity could be a powerful tool to influence and inspire.
As I evolved in my career from creative direction, I realized that my true calling was to help businesses and creatives establish a digital presence that truly reflects their vision. It’s always been important to me that creatives are recognized for their work and that brands receive the attention and engagement they deserve. This is what drove me to dive into digital marketing, UX/UI design, and social media management—to create platforms where businesses can thrive and connect with their audiences in meaningful ways.
What sets me apart from others in my field is my unwavering focus on the user experience. For me, it’s not just about creating beautiful visuals or engaging content; it’s about crafting experiences that resonate on a deep, impactful level. It’s about making sure that every touchpoint a user has with a brand leaves a lasting impression—one that reflects the brand’s values and message with clarity and authenticity.
When clients work with me, I want them to feel confident that their brand is in good hands. I’m proud of the work I do because it’s rooted in a genuine desire to help others succeed. Whether it’s through creative direction, social media management, or UX design, my goal is always the same: to ensure that my clients’ values and messages shine through in everything we create together.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Everything I do is driven by one core mission: to pass down the knowledge I’ve gained to the next generation. Growing up as an active member of the Boys and Girls Club had a profound impact on me, shaping my values and showing me the importance of community and mentorship. Today, I strive to carry that forward as a Board member of Club Blue with the Boys and Girls Club. I’ve spent time on things that didn’t serve me, and while those experiences shaped me, I’m focused on helping others avoid those detours. My goal is to build up the next generation of professionals by sharpening their mindset and priorities, giving them the tools to learn from both my mistakes and my successes. It’s about creating a path where they can succeed with clarity and purpose.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s the importance of time management. I can’t emphasize enough how crucial it is to master this skill early on. In 2024, we have an abundance of resources at our fingertips, and knowing how to identify and leverage them can make all the difference. I wish I had recognized sooner just how vital it is to not only manage time effectively but to also maximize the tools and resources available. The sooner you can master this, the more you can accomplish with clarity and efficiency.
