We recently connected with Catchfire and have shared our conversation below.
Catchfire, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Currently, we are all working to support ourselves while in the process of building up our business and our following. What drives us to get to that point is our passion about bringing people together with our music. Despite having jobs that take up a chunk of our day, we still put in the effort to record, release, and market our music so it can earn us a full-time living. Crafting a full-time music career takes time, but we look forward to the day when connecting with our fans becomes our round-the-clock job.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
At our core, we are a rock and roll band who’s goal is to unite people through our music. We use ’70’s and ’80’s classic rock as our foundation so fans can remember that timeless feeling, but we use fresh ideas and stories to push our music, ourselves, and our fans into the future. We believe that this sets us apart, as there are bands out there who tend to copy the classic rock sound and adopt legendary bands’ identities as their own. Catchfire transforms something old into something new, which keeps us sounding original and fresh. Aside from our original songwriting, something we are proud of is how we put on a show. Dancing around, hair-whipping, and jumping on the bar are all elements of our high-energy performances. Creating memorable experiences for the fans and letting loose is what Catchfire is all about. We eat, sleep, and breathe music because of how much we love it, and we hope that this feeling translates to our audiences.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The best thing people can do is to be present and willing to discover new artists. With the tools we have in today’s times such as social media, it is easier than ever to connect with people in so many different ways. Of course, this can become a balancing act of being present online and in the real world. As a society, we tend to fall into the trap of familiarity and only follow the artists we know and love. But, if people make efforts to discover and engage with new art, the support will follow. This support can be seen through ticket sales, merchandise, song streaming, etc., and we want to give you something profound in return. We hope that if we keep creating the best art and connecting with the fans, their support will follow.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The stories and emotions in our lyrics come from our own experiences, and listening back to our songs as if we were the audience and connecting with them is a rewarding feeling. This feeling is then taken to the next level when our fans enjoy it and connect with it as well. Seeing their excitement and hearing them sing along while on stage, knowing that they’re having a great time makes what we do even more fun. When we blow the roof off at a show and then meet and talk to the fans that we do all of this for, it’s the cherry on top.
