We recently connected with Catalina Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Catalina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Returning from a long day of modeling, creative directing, and working on a music video shoot. Exhausted but exhilarated, I sat down with a cup of tea, taking a moment to unwind.
As I opened my laptop to review my calendar, filled with upcoming shoots, meetings, and creative projects, my eyes wandered to my bank account balance and the list of bills due. A familiar thought crept into my mind: “What if I had a regular job?” The idea of stability, predictable paychecks, and a fixed schedule suddenly seemed convenient.
I imagined the life of a 9-to-5 worker, with a consistent routine, steady income, and weekends off. The predictability and security of knowing my bills would always be paid on time were tempting. The peace of mind that came with financial stability is something I long for, especially after a particularly hectic week filled with last-minute changes and long hours.
My mind drifted back to a recent conversation with an old friend who worked in an office. She talked about the routine tasks, the office politics, and the constant countdown to the weekend. While the stability sounded nice, it also seemed to come with its own set of challenges and monotony.
I reflected on the moments that made my career worth it—the rush of a successful shoot, the satisfaction of bringing a creative vision to life, and the joy of collaborating with other talented individuals. The unpredictability of my schedule was balanced by the incredible highs of my creative work. These were experiences a regular job couldn’t provide.
I took a deep breath and smiled to myself. Despite the stress and uncertainty, I realized that my passion for modeling, creative directing, and being a video muse brought me a level of fulfillment and excitement that a traditional job couldn’t match. The freedom to create, inspire, and be inspired was something I cherished deeply. In the end, while the thought of a regular job with its predictability and financial stability is tempting, my heart lies in the world of creativity. The unpredictability may bring stress, but it also brings unparalleled joy and fulfillment. It’s where I feel most alive and true to myself

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I’m thrilled to share a bit about myself and my journey in the creative industry with you.
My journey into the world of modeling and creative direction began with a deep passion for art and self-expression. From a young age, I was drawn to art and the transformative power of style. We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was headed to a major fashion shoot with a well-known brand, feeling both excited and nervous. Upon arrival, I received distressing news that the lead photographer was unable to make it, and the backup was stuck in traffic. The shoot was at risk of being canceled, which would have been a huge setback. In that moment of chaos, I decided to take control. With my experience as a creative director, I reassured the brand representatives, rallied the team, and quickly found a local photographer who could step in on short notice. While waiting for the new photographer, I coordinated with the makeup artists, stylists, and models to ensure everything was ready & organized. When the new photographer arrived, we jumped straight into the shoot. Despite the initial setbacks, the team pulled together, and the shoot turned out to be a huge success, capturing stunning images that impressed everyone. This experience taught me that resilience is about finding creative solutions and leading with confidence in tough situations. It showed me that setbacks are inevitable, but how we respond to them defines our success. The shots from this project were then published in Selin Magazine & I was the cover!
