We were lucky to catch up with Cat Lantigua recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cat, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Interestingly enough, I’m currently in a period of my life where I’m diving into yet another risky decision to move abroad as a way to encourage a sense of adventure and inspire a deeply creative day-to-day life. In 2020, I quit my 9-5 job to pursue the continuation of the wellness community I’d been building for years, and then at the end of 2021 I realized it was no longer aligned and decided to close it down. Since then, I’ve been digging deep and honing in on my life’s true purpose and now that I have re-remembered what it is, I am more committed than ever to embody it.
What I’ve learned throughout this all is that we simply have to go with the ebbs and flows of life. When you’re a creative, you’re typically inspired by way of living out your life and seizing the power within the nudges of intuitive guidance. It’s always going to be a risk, but deep down we know what our spirits are craving to express.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’d describe myself as a multi-hyphenate creative. I am a writer focused on themes related to the importance of community, social wellness, self-discovery, healing, and identity. I also translate these curiosities into audio via my self-produced podcast Chats with Cat, where I bring on inspiring guests from different industries and walks of life to unpack their journey’s of self-actualization.
I also find great joy in facilitating in-person experiences like round tables, workshops, and panels that leave folks feeling inspired and connected.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Cultivate opportunities for authentic connection! Artists can often find themselves feeling lonely and isolated as they dedicate more of their time to their projects, but truth is WE NEED EACH OTHER. It is through community that we remain grounded and supported throughout the most difficult moments and ultimately the foundation to some of the most aligned collaborations.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Absolutely. I’m eternally driven by the goal of encouraging a deep commitment to live out the manifestation of divine gifts and contributions to the collective. It is this very goal that prevents me from ever giving up on my own dreams, no matter how hard it gets.
