We recently connected with Cat Bruno and have shared our conversation below.
Cat, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
We wanted an inclusive name, yet one which also reflected a fun & fierce vibe. Anyone can be a babe, and we invite all to wear the title however they see fit. All identities. All love. One circle.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
After a difficult personal and professional split – both were interconnected – I found myself quite lost, on both fronts. Fortunately, I had an amazing group of women around me who stood at my side and held me up until I could do so on my own.
But what about other women who were not so lucky? Who might need a friend, a mentor, or just a moment of advice? How could they find that support circle of women? For centuries and across cultures, women have sat together, listened, guided, and offered counsel. With Babesburgh, we want to recreate that vibe – in a modern setting and to offer what I was lucky enough to have when I needed it most – a group of women to laugh with, cry with, work out with, party with, and brainstorm with.
Our events center on creating, cultivating, and celebrating women.
Cultivate: Encourage & inspire our attendees to focus on self-care, wellness, & health
Connect: Create a women-led network from various industries to build connections &
enliven ideas
Celebrate: Delight in the benefits of sisterhood & support
When these connections and friendships develop, we succeed. We all rise, together.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I’m a fairly typical middle child, with two sisters and a brother. As a child, I never made waves or caused trouble; instead, I just sailed along by focusing on sports and academics. As an adult, I’ve realized that sometimes you DO need to cause trouble. As a woman, I’ve learned that sometimes you DO need to make waves.
Or, as one of my favorite poets – Audre Lorde – once said, “Your silence will not protect you.” Speak up, shout if necessary. Make those waves to be heard and seen!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
First, we identified who we are, as an organization. From there, our audience became clear – because our audience was us! Many businesses will not have that step so clearly marked. But we can all try to connect with our clients and audiences in ways that are natural and genuine. We want our events to have repeat attendees, which suggests that those who come back enjoyed themselves! And we want those folks to invite more folks, to share and tag us across social media, and to talk about us to their friends, families, and strangers! Word of mouth – by way of a heartfelt compliment is our best marketing tool.
