Cassondra, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to help people see and experience more. To encourage people to get out, explore and appreciate the simplest things, especially what makes Michigan so unique.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a travel influencer and content creator; I help people discover new places to explore and help them with logistics to making more travel happen. I travel all over the state of Michigan and share the how, what and where.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Prior to 2020, I was traveling the world with my toddler. Travel paused for some time along with the rest of the world. At the time, I was known as Cassondra Wanders the World – sharing worldwide travel content. When we took the 2020 pause, I rebranded as Cassondra Wanders and shifted my focus to local destinations around my home state of Michigan. This change was quite successful and helped evolve my business into what it is today.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I began growing on social media when I started sharing about my world travels in 2015. Shifting to primarily Michigan travel in 2020, meant a new audience. I continued to share content, but I was more intentional about it. Instead of simply sharing photos from my travels, I began to encourage others and provide more valuable details, to help them do it too. I uncovered some hidden gems in Michigan and continue to help others discover lesser known spots.
