We were lucky to catch up with Cassie Wilson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Cassie, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.

I strive to let everyone know about my faith, even in my business. I only have this business because of God, and I’m proud to share that. I also am veteran-owned!

Cassie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I actually started a Virtual Assistant business back in 2021 after coming home from deployment. I knew I wanted something more consistent with my family life, so I wanted to make a change. I served another year, doing business on the side. Eventually I was able to take it full-time. I kept getting clients asking for web design, which I had ZERO experience with. I took on these websites as a challenge, and ended up loving every second. This pushed me to go to school for Computer Science and learn everything I could about computers and coding. On April 18th, 2024 I launched my second business specializing in Web Design and SEO. Within the first few months, I was completely booked. I knew I found my passion. My clients come to me wanting a website that not only looks good, but also performs well. It’s so much more than a pretty page, it should be attracting dream clients. Not only do I focus on the messaging and graphics on the website, I also include on-page SEO with each project, which helps them get started with getting found on search engines like Google. My goal is to help them bring their vision to life visually while still capturing their goal of getting calls! I’m proud to say that most of my clients come back to work together for social media management with my other business. This is probably because I go above and beyond to ensure they are taken care of and their goals are met. I also am super confident in what I do, and don’t believe I charge what my services are worth. I do this because I want everyone to have an opportunity to revamp their website or book monthly SEO. I also train Junior Designers on some projects and this helps them get experience for their own projects in the future.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

In 2023, we were completely drained financially. I had gotten out of the military, and took a work from home job to get stability for my family after deployment while also running my Virtual Assistant business on the side. This is where my faith came in. I prayed and asked God to change things. I surrendered to Him and said HE can take it all, I was done. HE is the one who gave me the Web Design business idea. HE is the one who sent me Web Design clients when I had never even thought about doing it. HE is the one who told me to quit my job and go full-time in this Design business, trusting that He would provide. I’ve learned to put myself out there more without the fear of what people think. I used to hate making videos, which perform the best for my profile. I quickly realized that people want to work with people they know and trust. How can they do that…. how could they trust me if I don’t show up? This is where things changed for me. I put myself out there, and I prayed for clients, and God came through. Sometimes I look back and wonder how this even happened. It really came out of nowhere.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?

Being authentic. Putting God first. Showing up daily, even if it’s just a story. I remind people I exist. I also provide as much value as possible. I show people what I can do, and I show them how they can do it too, whether they are a designer or a new client. I also give as much information as possible to clients. If they had to stop services for whatever reason for SEO or something along those lines, I want them to have enough of the basics to do it themselves. This has actually helped me a lot, because clients have sent me referrals because of me teaching them so much and wanting others to experience the knowledge and results as well.
