We recently connected with Cassie Hepler and have shared our conversation below.
Cassie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
It takes grit and daily perseverance. Most people give up because they want instant gratification. An “overnight success” usually takes 10 years!
Cassie, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Cassie Hepler and I am the owner/publisher of lifestyle and travel blog ExplorewithCassie.com as well as a multi-media journalist, photographer and professional model & actress based in Phoenix, Arizona. I also worked with TikTok in May of 2020 as part of their #learnontiktok educational fund to bring more information to the app than just dancing. I’ve been modeling/acting since college at Penn State University (Journalism major/English minor) as well as writing for newspapers since I was 16 years old. I have the rare insight of being on both sides of the lense and able to read people like a book!
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I delved out of traditional newspapers/print media and straight into blogging and building my own brand Explore with Cassie. During that time, I took a part time job to help pay the bills as my entrepreneurial finances were super lean. But that steady income helped me get a condo, sell it and buy a house before and through the Covid era. After I helped sell that company, I moved back into my own world with both my brands cassiehepler.com and explorewithcassie.com. It’s my happy place! I still am a freelance writer and enjoy creating content the most and exploring the world.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I have these photographic/cinematic images in my mind and cannot get them out until I create that vision. Then when it’s done and published, a new one appears. It’s quite creative but also quite maddening at times because one has to leave for more to flow! I am also delving back into my roots lately with a Singer sewing machine. I used to alter clothing in college and now think I will just create stunning yet easy couture to wear for photographs too. And have started painting again as well. It all ties together… the colors, the textures, the satisfaction of creating something out of nothingness.
