We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cassie Hagen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cassie below.
Cassie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always had a passion for photography even as a kid. I would fill rolls and rolls of film of friends, vacations, little details, big moments, literally anything and everything. It wasn’t until my oldest was born that I fell in love with photography all over again but in a new way. My first DSLR captured all of the moments, both the littlest details and milestones of my kiddo every single day now filling my hard drive with dozens and dozens of photos. I would use my camera everyday and even started dabbling in editing the photos constantly learning and growing. The more this evolved the more I fell in love with every aspect of photography and even started to shoot close family and friends. That eventually led into the leap of starting my own photography business where I am able to create art on a whole new level.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
This all started by documenting my oldest roughly 10 years ago and things have grown and blossomed from there allowing me to turn this passion into a reality that I get to share with the world. Through various workshops, self taught learning and a lot of drive for this passion of creating lasting art has continued to push me to strive for better. We are not stagnate but rather evolving every day and our work as artists should reflect that. I photograph engagements, weddings, seniors, families, newborns and children, animals and sports throughout the midwest. With each session I work with the clients to better understand them, what their hobbies and interests are to be able to better serve them. Regardless of what I am shooting I want you to walk away from our time together smiling from ear to ear and having truly enjoyed your session and loving the photos we create.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
To best support creatives aside from hiring them or purchasing a piece of work would be to share their name. Social media has played a huge roll in the growth of artists. This means reacting, commenting and sharing a post they made to help broaden their demographic. In my experience word of mouth is how majority of my clients find me and that is all in thanks to others who had a wonderful experience and shared that with others.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of bein a creative is the honor of being welcomed into someone’s life and the privilege of documenting it all. These are photos, little snippets in time that will be treasured forever so when you look back on a photo you are transported back where you can remember the smells, feels and stories behind it.
