We recently connected with Cassie Dyck and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassie, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
One of my favorite client stories is from a surprise proposal I helped plan for Ryan and Anna on the Big Island. Ryan had a secret spot tucked away on the north shore cliffs that meant a lot to him, and he wanted it to be the place he asked Anna to marry him. We hiked out there together, and I helped him plan not just the proposal, but also where and when they’d elope. The moment was incredibly personal—Ryan had written a song for Anna and sang it to her just before dropping to one knee. Even though it was super windy that day, I made it a priority to help them feel relaxed and completely in the moment. It ended up being such an authentic, joy-filled experience, and I’m so grateful I got to be a part of it. After I delivered their photos, Anna messaged me saying, “We looked at them as SOON as you sent them!!! They’re the best!! Absolutely melted – thank you so much for taking them for us!” Moments like that are why I do what I do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Aloha! I’m Cassie, the photographer behind Cassie Beth Photography, based on the beautiful island of Maui. I specialize in capturing candid, genuine, & timeless wedding and elopement moments for couples who want to feel relaxed and truly themselves. My approach is rooted in connection—between people, with nature, and with each couple’s unique story.
I first fell in love with photography at an early age, taking my point & shoot camera along wherever I went. As I learned more and continued to pursue it, I fell in love with capturing the in-between moments: the laughter, the quiet glances, the real emotion. Once I moved to Hawaii, that love deepened as I began photographing couples in some of the most naturally beautiful places on Earth. What started as a passion quickly turned into what the Lord has called me to do.
I offer everything from full wedding coverage to intimate elopements and proposals—often helping couples plan the entire experience, from timeline guidance to location scouting. I’m here to be more than just your photographer: I’m your local guide, hype woman, and storyteller.
What sets me apart is the intentional experience I create. I don’t chase stiff poses or trends—I focus on helping you feel comfortable so your connection shines through naturally. I’m most proud of the trust my clients give me and the meaningful memories we create together. At the end of the day, I want you to walk away with photos that not only look beautiful, but feel like you.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building my audience on social media has been a slow, organic process rooted in showing up authentically and intentionally connecting with others in the industry. Early on, I focused on sharing not just beautiful images, but the stories and emotions behind them. As I met more people, built genuine connections in the photography community, joined mentorships, and had my work published and shared, my presence and following naturally started to grow. Sharing my own experiences—both personal and professional—also helped people connect with me beyond just the photos.
In the past year, I added a social media manager to my team, and that’s been such a game-changer. Having someone help with planning, posting, and creating reels has taken a lot of stress off my plate and allowed me to stay consistent, even during busy seasons. It’s helped me show up more intentionally without burning out.
My advice to anyone starting out is to focus on connection over perfection. Be yourself, share your journey, and don’t be afraid to talk about the real stuff. Build relationships in your creative community, invest in mentorships that feel aligned, and use your unique voice—because that’s what truly sets you apart. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistency, heart, and support, it will happen.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
One of the most effective strategies for growing my clientele has been investing in workshops, styled shoots, and mentorships. These experiences have been incredibly valuable—not just for learning from photographers and creatives who already work with the kind of clients I want to attract, but also for helping me create the type of work I want to be known for. Being intentional about the spaces I put myself in has allowed me to grow both creatively and professionally.
Styled shoots, in particular, have helped me build a portfolio that reflects my dream aesthetic and speaks directly to my ideal couple. And mentorships have taught me how to refine my client experience, market myself more effectively, and build a business that feels aligned with who I am. Each connection, collaboration, and bit of education has played a part in helping me attract couples who resonate with my style and values.
I truly believe that when you surround yourself with people who inspire you and push you to grow, it shows in your work—and your dream clients take notice.
