We recently connected with Cassie Butcher and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassie, thanks for joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
When I first started coaching, I was a little nervous. I knew I had what it took to motivate someone but I wasn’t sure that I had what it took to make them take action. I was scared of taking money from someone and not being confident in my ability to really help them. My business coach at the time decided that I should offer free coaching to 2-3 individuals and let them know what I was trying to do. I posted about the offer on my social media platforms and 3 people signed up fast. I actually had several people reach out saying they’d love to work with me but the spots had been filled. This was so encouraging for me.
I worked with these clients to help them deal with a few personal issues and concerns all while figuring out how I wanted my coaching style to look and what I wanted our meetings to primarily consist of. Once we finished up our sessions, I asked each client how much they would pay someone for what we did and they all gave me insights on different prices for different time ranges. This definitely helped me birth the idea of the kind of coaching packages I wanted to offer.
This experience helped me realize that it was okay for me to test things out in my business before presenting a solid and permanent plan. It showed me that strategy would not only be key in my business but it would also be key in my growth process.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Self-Care Coach and Wellness Consultant. I am the founder of my own business Cassie’s Cure: Self-Care & Wellness where I focuses on teaching women how to practice self-care and love themselves better unapologetically. I do this by hosting my very own wellness retreats, self-care events and workshops, and group coaching.
I am very passionate about helping women practice self-compassion, prioritize self-care, and discover who they truly are outside of who society has taught them to be. I am also passionate about helping women become more comfortable in their own skin and going after the peaceful lifestyle they deserve.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Authenticity! The clients I’ve worked with always share with me how they feel as if they are talking to a “real person”. I love being able to show clients that I can empathize with their journeys and offer individualized support. I remain myself while coaching these clients because I never want them to think I am someone I am not. I never want them to idolize me. But I do want them to be able to know that the person they are talking to, has been where they are emotionally. The person they are talking to is trying to figure it out as well. My clients love being able to related to so I make sure they know that I am not just preaching to them.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I would say my brother passing was the hardest part for me. I wanted to quit everything. I took some time off from coaching for a year and I didn’t host any events because I was trying to figure out how to navigate that. God, prayer, therapy, and family sustained me. I didn’t want to be bothered with anyone or anything else. It was hard to find that spark when it felt like my world was permanently dimed.
Do I still struggle and miss my brother every day? Yes, but now I’ve decided to practice healing through my work. He played a huge role in me wanting to start my business so I try my best to honor him with my work today.
