We recently connected with Cassidy Trumpour and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cassidy, thanks for joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I was introduced to my current boss, Adam Sigal, through a mutual friend shortly before graduating from UCLA, and I was fortunate enough to secure a full-time position working with him. Landing this role right out of school was a pivotal moment for me, and I feel incredibly lucky to be part of his company. Adam is not only an accomplished director and producer, but also a generous mentor who has taught me a great deal about the industry—from creative development to the intricacies of production. We have several exciting projects currently in development, and I’m thrilled for what’s ahead as we prepare to share more in the coming year.

Cassidy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I grew up in Toronto, where my passion for the arts was evident from an early age. I began acting and performing in musical theatre as a child, drawn to storytelling and creative expression. At 12, I started traveling to Los Angeles for acting workshops, which deepened my commitment to the craft and introduced me to the heart of the film industry. Eventually, I made the move to LA and pursued a degree in Film Studies at UCLA, where I honed my understanding of both the artistic and technical sides of filmmaking. I currently reside in Los Angeles and work with award-winning producer and director Adam Sigal, continuing to grow and contribute within the industry that has inspired me since childhood.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I began acting, dancing, and singing from a very young age, which naturally led me to attend an arts-focused school and, later, a more rigorous acting program. While performance was my entry point into the industry, I had always felt a deep passion for writing and storytelling, which eventually inspired me to shift my focus and formally study the behind-the-scenes aspects of production. Choosing to study Film at UCLA was one of the best decisions I’ve made—I’m incredibly grateful for the resources, mentorship, and hands-on experiences the program offered. It allowed me to explore the many intricate layers that go into bringing a production to life and gave me the chance to try out different roles across the creative process. Even now, I’m still discovering where I see myself in five years, but that’s what I love most about film—you’re not confined to a single path. There’s a certain freedom in knowing you can explore and grow into multiple roles within the industry.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Although the film industry presents its own unique challenges, my personal journey has come with additional hurdles. The COVID-19 pandemic forced me to pause my education for a year, and during my time at UCLA, I often had to take terms off to return home and work in order to pay for school. Graduating during the industry-wide strike added another layer of difficulty, as it brought uncertainty just as I was beginning to take my first steps into the professional world. Living alone in Los Angeles has also been a test of resilience—rewarding, but at times isolating. Still, each of these experiences has strengthened my perseverance and deepened my passion for building a meaningful and lasting career in film.
