We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cassidy Kmetz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cassidy below.
Cassidy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Right now the fitness industry is seeing a major shift in the way we look at exercise. It’s moving away from solely focusing on physical appearance and putting its focus on the holistic benefits for both the mind and body. We’re recognizing exercise as a catalyst for self-growth and human performance. In the past we valued strength training primarily for its immediate visual results. But now we are particularly interested in the benefits that go beyond just the surface level, with an emphasis on post-workout recovery routines that best support our overall health and longevity.
We are seeing this same holistic approach being taken towards nutrition with more ingredient-conscious athletes who are actively seeking quality, whole food sources over highly-processed, “quick-fix” products like protein bars and energy drinks. Herbal supplements like ashwagandha are prevalent, as well as complete protein sources that go as far as eating raw beef liver!
If we’re getting into the specifics, here are some of the most prominent fitness trends on the rise that are definitely worth keeping an eye out for:
-supplement stacking
-“exercise is medicine” mentality
-post-workout recovery- infrared saunas, cryotherapy, red light therapy, compression therapy
-mobility stretching
-functional training
-low impact workouts
-exclusive, invite-only gyms (targeting fitness creators)
-high tech fitness equipment (also tons of “niche” machines targeting very specific muscle groups)
Overall, there are a lot of exciting things to expect as we approach a new generation of fitness!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a lifestyle influencer, fitness coach and entrepreneur who is all about promoting a healthy, fitness-driven lifestyle, living to fullest and inspiring others to do the same! My audience turns to my content for fitness inspiration, tailored exercise routines, nutritious AND delicious recipes, and easily digestable health tips (pun intended)! I am most widely recognized for my expertise in the fitness industry and the background that led me to it (a near death experience with a TBI). I am a student of life constantly learning on my fitness journey, sharing everything I learn along the way, and guiding the women in my community to achieve the body of their dreams through the teachings on my fitness app!
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Being a creative/entrepreneur is great because you can make your own hours without having to work the traditional 9-5, BUT with that comes its own burden. Sometimes not having that structure makes it difficult to take accountability and motivate yourself to get on a consistent schedule OR to set boundaries and know when it’s time to stop. There are times when I will sleep in late because I don’t have anywhere to be or any reason to get up and there are also times when I’m so consumed in my work that I’m working until 2 in the morning. Even on vacation I’m actively shooting and editing content. Technically, there’s never “time off”. This topic is often overlooked in the industry and there are many misconceptions behind the work involved in being a creator or entrepreneur. With that said, it’s super important for any aspiring creator to know before diving in. I love what I do and wouldn’t trade it for the world! But if you want to keep that spark and passion behind your creative endeavors while preventing burnout, it is crucial that you force yourself to set boundaries. Your mind and body will thank you!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
There is nothing more rewarding or impactful than when someone simply tags me in a post or slides into my DMs to show me or tell me how my work has positively contributed to their life. Making money is amazing because it offers me the financial support to continue doing what I do. But at the end of the day, the driving factor that motivates me and gets me up in the morning is the excitement of being able to spread my message and teachings, knowing that people are utilizing it and taking value from it and that ME, an INDIVIDUAL, can have such a profound impact on a collective mass of people.
