We were lucky to catch up with Cassidy Davis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Cassidy, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
The story behind my mission is quite… chaotic. So I was tragically single in LA for 5 years and last Valentine’s Day I just got sick of it. I told my other single girlfriends to invite a random man off of a dating app to my house and I was going to host a first date mega house party. Then at the last minute I panicked and invited 65 men off Tinder and gave them all my personal address (definitely not the smartest thing I’ve ever done…) But everyone showed up, had a great time, many hit it off, and no one robbed us! So it was a huge success! I then put all the videos from the party up on my TikTok and they went viral. Millions of views and several news headlines later, I had thousands of people asking me to throw another party. So I rented out a venue this time (#growth) and sold out the venue of 500 people in 30 minutes with a waitlist of 900 singles trying to get in. Thus the Chaotic Singles Business was born! Since then the parties have only gotten bigger and more chaotic. Around 250-350 singles come out every month to shoot their shot at love through the chaos!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Chaotic Singles Parties are exactly what they sound like- singles parties for the fun, chaotic singles! The idea is that you invite a stranger off a dating app to meet you at the party and then you let chaos ensue! I host these parties in LA and NYC and around 250-350 singles come out every event to find love through a fun, chaotic party. At the parties we play games, mingle, drink, and date in-person because it’s a bar full of singles. (So if you’re having dating app fatigue, this is the party for you!) The parties also always have a sponsor, and I’ve been able to work with brands such as McDonald’s, MGM, Bellesa, Super73, and The Hollywood Bowl. However, what I’m most proud of is the 20 success stories of couples who are still dating after meeting at my party, my boyfriend and I being one of them! I hope to travel to many more cities this year and help singles all over the country find love through the chaos.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I remember the first time I got fired I was absolutely shocked. I had just moved to LA and I was working in the marketing department for a casting office/acting studio. I had done such an effective job that I had essentially streamlined all marketing efforts and was no longer needed on the team. So I got fired. I remember coming home to my LA apartment and staring at the ceiling, wondering how the heck I was going to make enough money to afford this apartment that I just signed a 1 year lease for. However, I am extremely grateful for being fired because it’s that moment that inspired me to become an entrepreneur. I promised myself that I would never rely on one source of income again, and I would never rely on an outside source to provide that money and stability. From now on, I would be working for myself and giving myself the money, time and freedom to pursue my passions and make a living. That’s the moment I started my first business and I never looked back.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building an audience on social media can be tricky, time-consuming and disheartening. However, when you find our community of people it can truly be magical and life-changing. The most important thing is to be 100% authentically yourself. If you post on social media with the intention of going viral or building a community to promote/sell to, it will come off inauthentic and people are not likely to follow you or engage with your content. Every time I’ve tried to go viral, or created a video thinking it would perform really well, it always flopped. However, anytime I created content that was unapologetically and authentically myself, it seemed to resonate with a lot more people. So my best advice is, don’t try to build an audience on social media. Instead, start sharing authentically from the heart. What stories do you have to tell? What advice do you want to give? What is something you’re really passionate about? Start there and your audience will find you.
