We recently connected with Cassandra Schick and have shared our conversation below.
Cassandra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I originally didn’t know that this would be in the cards. I was the friend that was asked to help plan all sorts of events, from baby showers to helping with weddings. After a while of helping friends and having them tell me that I should do this professionally, I started to think and research what it would take to do so.
So after several years of helping others, I decided to create Get Schick Done Events, because I want to help people find affordable ways to have the events that they have dreamed about, and help take the stress away from their event so that they can focus on being in the moment.

Cassandra, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a teacher, life-long learner, friend, and auntie. Plus, I’m a driven woman… and I could go on! I started Get Schick Done because I decided to put my passion for planning to the test and follow my gut to become an event planner. COVID-19 put a pause on life for everyone, but now I feel more than ever that it’s time to start living again and celebrating life’s adventures and events.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
First it started with sharing with family and friends that I had started a business. I then started to network with others who were interested in events that I was doing, such as my vendor/maker markets. It takes a lot to get things off the ground sometimes, but if you have a great support behind you you’ll be able to do it!
(Facebook planner also is a life saver so that you can schedule posts!)

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I have been through many trials in my short life. When I was a child, my father was deployed with the military for a total of 21 months. So I learned to be much more independent and thoughtful than I thought possible. I have been in situations that were not the healthiest for me mentally, or emotionally, those moments taught me to push through the difficult times and that there is something on the other side. Most recently I experienced the sudden loss of my fiancee’, which was definitely the scariest and most difficult moment I have ever experienced. I’m still navigating through life without having him here, but I have learned that I am resilient.
I don’t want pity when I’m sharing these moments that lead to where I am now. I want to share that it does make you stronger and more creative with how you deal with life. Life is full of moments that make you question what you are doing, and that’s NORMAl, that’s OKAY. You have to decide how you’re going to rise from the difficult moments and use them to pave your path. Do not let others define how you should act, how you should be, or what you should do. You do what you want to do, and have fun every step of the way!
