Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cassandra Davis. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cassandra, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
A few years ago, I was looking for ways to give back to my community around the holidays, preferably by sponsoring a child and providing gifts for them. A flier was posted online for the Homeless Education Department of the county where I live, so I reached out. I was able to provide the child gifts from a wish list that they had prepared. During the ceremony, through general conversation, the organizer and myself got on the subject of the program’s graduating seniors. I shared that I was a photographer and was interested in photographing the senior class students. By offering this gift, would give the students a memorable moment to etch into their lives forever. I wanted to make an impact on them by giving them a professional portrait that would mark an amazing accomplishment in their lives. So, towards the end of the school year, I went back and photographed each senior in their cap & gowns and provided printed photos to them to keep. I did this for two years, until the pandemic hit, and it kind of fizzled away. This was very important to me to be able to give the students an experience that they could have for a lifetime. To show them their value & that they truly deserved it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I began photography as a hobby in 2009, with taking photos of my family. It has progressed over the years into the business it is today. I specialize in Event & Portrait Photography and my goals with each client is to give them an experience that makes their heart smile & also show them that a session with me is a priceless experience that will leave them feeling empowered. Even though Event & Portraits are my specialty, I’d love to branch out to photographing small business brands. it’s a wonderful feeling to know that you can help small businesses grow by giving them priceless photography to shine a light on them.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Hands down, word-of-mouth has been the best source of my new clients. They have seen my work through others and reached out for sessions of their own. And a lot of them become repeat clients.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
So, I am currently still building my social media presence. What I have learned is to post, post, post. Don’t get hung up on things being perfect, just get the content out there. This is something that I am consistently trying to do, at least weekly. I can say that I have gotten positive results from it.
