Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cassandra Coronado. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Cassandra, thanks for joining us today. Any thoughts about whether to ask friends and family to support your business. What’s okay in your view?
This day and age everyone knows someone with a certain type of business and unfortunately is looking for a discount. The best way to ask for support is not asking for a discount but paying full price and of course sharing the name whether its social media or word of mouth. I will always be grateful for my family and friends support. If you’ve used my business, I please ask to write a review, or tag my business with your photos.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
When I was younger, my mom was into photography. Along the way I decided to pick up a camera and just fell in love. I took a few classes in high school and realized that’s what I wanted to go to college for. My parents told me in order to do that I needed to be in yearbook. Senior year I was in yearbook and was one of the two photo editors. From there I got my basics out of the way and then transferred to UTA where I received my Bachelor of Arts Emphasis in Photography. After a few years of working for another studio I decided it was time to take that leap of faith and start my own business, which is what I am proud of the most. It was always a dream of mine and now I am doing it!
I love to photograph weddings, couples, and families. For me, I feel like what sets me a part from others is that I am very passionate about people and learning about them, their background, and especially for weddings, their love story. I want my clients to know that I am there for them and will be their biggest cheerleader!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m sure lots of business owners will agree with me when I say Covid was a time to have to pivot. That’s actually when I decided to begin my business. Like I mentioned before, I worked for another studio, one that I had solid income, potential for lots of growth, and good friends. It was terrifying leaving them, but I knew in my heart it was my time to go. Owning my business is something I’ve always wanted to do. Back in 2013 I even got a DBA. It’s been scary but I feel like it’s the best pivot that I could have taken.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The beginning of this year I decided to join The Knot and WeddingWire. It’s a great resource for clients to find me. All they have to do is search for where they’re looking and then find what kind of style they’re looking for in their photographer. My style is light/airy/traditional.
