Cassandra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

In early 2023 I started seeing Bungee Fitness videos on Instagram. The exercises seemed so fun and also impactful. I tried to find a place in Los Angeles that offered the high-powered version of Bungee Fitness that kept showing up in my feed with zero luck.

I knew that I did not have enough savings to retire and I turned 65 last September. I knew I needed to create a business that would get me through my third act and make my family proud. For a second I had thought about my younger years in as a restaurant owner, but Covid put a real damper on that thought. I started to think about Bungee Fitness and how my community in Burbank could really use this fun sport that combines cardio exercise with aerial arts.

I didn’t want to create a business that was about consumption. I wanted to create something that made people laugh and have fun, while doing something good for themselves! Air Fit Bungee began to create itself in my mind.

I jumped in. I was certified by Sling Bungee Fitness in Oklahoma. I was impressed by their large number of followers on IG and the fact that they were very highly rate for safe equipment.

It took awhile to find a location in Burbank. “The rents are high and the ceilings are low” became a meme in my mind when I heard a lot of, “no thank yous.”

But a year and half later I found the perfect location! We are two blocks south of Downtown Burbank and right off of Magnolia!

We have been open now eight weeks. We are still calling a “Soft-Open” but we are filling up classes! We have 3 types of Adult Bungee Fitness, Kids Bungee Fitness (ages 10-13) and Aerial Yoga Flow. I have also been so lucky with the amazing instructors that were attracted to Air Fit Bungee. The reviews on Classpass, Google and Yelp speak for themselves.

Watching people have so much fun at Air Fit Bungee is my vision realized. Seeing people bond, while cracking up in the parking lot is my joy! Seeing kids beg their parents to let them do Bungee Fitness is bliss. I’m feeling very lucky and blessed.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Bungee Fitness is high-intensity, low impact cardio workout while participants are in a harness supported by bungee cords. Air Fit Bungee is the only game in town at the moment! We offer adult and children’s classes, Aerial Yoga Flow, which is very popular and soon we will be offering FitSprings a dynamic body tone and strength program.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I am in the process of building an audience on social media. Being a small business I do 95% of all the postings myself. One thing that is helping me grow my business is making sure the clients are able to video tape and take photos of themselves, laughing, jumping, playing and having fun at Air Fit Bungee. This is my joy and I love when they tag us in their fun and creative posts. This absolutely the best advertising for us.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Resilience is my middle name. I don’t like to look backward but as a cancer-survivor, divorced single-mom and someone who has always been a blue-collar entrepreneur, I’ve had many brilliant chapters of both failures and successes. I don’t regret anything and I’ve grown into who am today. I love who’ve I become in my 65 years in this lifetime and I’m proud to be not just still standing….but jumping for joy like a kid, in my bungee harness.
