Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cass Reinhardt. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cass, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I have worked on is my upcoming EP “In The Safety of My Room”. In August 2023 I moved to New York City to pursue a career in songwriting and producing and attended Berklee NYC’s masters program in songwriting and production. I wrote and produced this EP throughout my time at Berklee, and this record captures a period of significant growth and creativity. For me, music has always been personal and songwriting has been a way to express myself and my feelings. This project challenged me to take the songs I was writing and produce them in a way that supported the story. This EP is titled “In The Safety of My Room” because my bedroom is my therapeutic space and where most of my songwriting takes place. My room has always been a space where I can be emotionally vulnerable and let out how I’m feeling, and each song in this EP was written in the safety of my room<3

Cass, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Cass Reinhardt. I am a pop music artist, songwriter, and producer born in West Chester, PA and am now based in New York City. I was drawn to music before I could speak. When I was a baby my mom would sing lullaby’s to me before bed and I would hum them back to her. Little did I know that was a sign that music and I had a long journey ahead of us. I began songwriting at the age of 7 years old, coming up with little melodies on the piano and telling stories through lyrics. By the age of 15 I had taught myself the guitar, continued playing piano and singing, and began songwriting as an outlet for how I was feeling about my experiences growing up. While studying at the University of Delaware as a communication major, I spent my extra time writing songs that were inspired by feelings of heartbreak, loneliness, and growing up, and began producing my own sad girl bedroom pop music in 2020. In 2023 I was accepted into Berklee NYC’s masters program for songwriting and producing and took this as my sign to move to New York to pursue a career in my biggest passion. My sound incorporates lots of stripped down instruments, pitched atmospheres, and creative uses of echo, reverb, and space. My lyrics continue to tell stories about my personal life and experiences that inspire me the most, but my goal is for people to relate to my music in their own way and create their own story with every song.
In the past few months I have released two singles, “Iridescent”, and “Weapons”, and have been working on the finishing touches of my upcoming EP “In The Safety of My Room”. I have also been spending my time writing and producing new music along with collaborating with songwriters and producers in the NYC area on new projects. As for performances, I enjoy playing shows in Brooklyn and Manhattan and post updates about upcoming shows on my instagram account!

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
In my opinion, the best way to support artists is by sharing their music with others. You can offer your personal support by showing up to performances, but bringing friends and introducing them to new music helps expand an artist’s audience and network. Another quick and easy way is by sharing an artist’s music through social media. Posting links to their music on instagram stories, using their sound on TikTok and Reels, and sharing upcoming performances through social media is a quick and efficient way to help an artist’s growth.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Although the music I create is based on personal experiences or topics that resonate with me, the goal for my music is for people to create their own story within the songs and relate to them in their own way. One day I hope to play a concert in another country where the crowd is filled with strangers who love and identify with the music that I release into the world.
