We were lucky to catch up with Casie Fischer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Casie , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Thistle Wynd Styling is a new arm of my business and was created to empower people to embrace their bodies where they are and to encourage growth, fun, and self-love through styling and fashion.
I started my career in high-fashion, which when I was young was exciting. As I got older I yearned for more. I yearned for more access to stylish pieces at affordable prices, different types of bodies being celebrated, and clothing being made for them. After I had my boys and after going through lock down, my own sense of fashion was lacking and I didn’t feel like myself. I decided that I was going to take back that narrative and really go after what I wanted personally so that I could feel good again and like the “old Casie”. This led me to helping a lot of my friends going through the same struggles. My core of friends really pushed me into expanding my business.
Casie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Nine years ago I started Thistle Wynd Productions. It is a full-service event management company. I love my craft and I’ve had great opportunities come my way. I have planned C-level fishing trips in Alaska for oil and gas executives, managed talent for the Houston Superbowl, organized runway shows, produced events for large technology companies, and worked with sweet couples and their families to plan the biggest day of their lives. No matter the event, there are some things that remain constant: my love for connecting with those that I work with, wanting to really dive into the details, and ensuring that I am a steady rock in the midst of what can often be a whirlwind. As a company, we focus all of our marketing efforts on exposure from executed events, publicity from styled shoots, and the generous gift of word of mouth to promote the business. We are continually honing our skills in the realms of project management, client services, and event planning and styling. We pride ourselves on having developed a unique balance of creativity and a business-savvy approach consistently informed by a driving focus on customer service. We love being the connector that merges various elements.
We recently just expanded and started a separate arm of the business called Thistle Wynd Styling. We offer Closet Overhauls, Vacation Look Styling, Seasonal Refreshes, and Photo Shoot Styling. I feel like getting dressed shouldn’t be stressful!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Although I have worked in varied business markets and environments, the one common thread is that there has always been a focus on customer service. That has driven how I approach the market and gives me so much satisfaction. I love making connections and really enjoy what I do. I think that comes across in my work. I have become good friends with many clients, which is lovely after spending time with them during so many pivotal moments in their lives. I’ve made the conscious effort to keep my team small, so that I am touching each aspect of either the planning process, the items that we are producing, or the people that we are styling. My reputation means a lot to me and I set a very high standard in the quality that we produce.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Word of mouth, for sure. We have always been a grassroots company. We focus our marketing efforts on creating relationships and providing superior customer service that fosters brand loyalty.
