We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Casey Broach. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Casey below.
Casey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The Vessel Yoga was created to be a vessel for the journey that yoga can take you on.
What so many come to realize as they begin their yoga practice is that this is a transformative, personal journey of physical, emotional, and spiritual healing and growth. Yoga is so much more than just stretching, or even asana.
My mission is to share the multiple aspects of yoga, and to provide various healing tools, to assist those who choose to trek this journey.
My flows are designed to include chakra healing postures, meditation, and mindfulness. I often incorporate crystals, singing bowls, pranayama, frequency and key specific playlists, and meditation in my classes. In addition, I recently became trauma-informed certified in order to become better equipped to hold space for my students who may be healing.
I am merely a vessel for those on their yogic journey. That is my mission.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started taking yoga classes in 2014 to learn how to stretch better for the gym. What I didn’t expect was the transformative growth I’d experience from it in multiple aspects of my life.
Yoga helped me to become more flexible, but it also helped me manage my anxiety, overcome fear, improve my relationships, and breathe through the uncomfortable moments in life. Yoga brought me closer to God, opened my eyes to my own beauty, and taught me ways to heal.
In 2022, I decided I wanted to complete my 200 hr YTT training to become a yoga teacher and share what I had experienced. I created The Vessel Yoga in July 2022 as a personal yoga instructor, and have since grown to also teach chakra cleansing workshops and group beach yoga classes. I both teach my own classes, as well as teach for other studios independently under The Vessel Yoga.
What sets all of my classes apart is the blend of asana, sound, crystals, meditation, breathwork, and other tools into the practice to aid in growth and healing that is beyond just the physical.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I have a background in marketing, so I do my own organic marketing.
I selected Instagram as my main platform due to the ability to target posts through location and hashtags, receive free basic insights, and a lot of my target audience is on there. I considered Facebook, but it’s not as easy for me to use, and I’m not personally active on the platform. I intend to incorporate YouTube in the future.
I started by posting reels and photos from my personal practice, and then added classes with student’s permission. I experienced most of my growth in the beginning with reels, but that eventually tapered off.
Most of my growth now is from developing in person relationships by teaching and attending yoga classes. This is good, because those tend to be engaging and loyal followers, as well as clients.
I plan to expand my social media strategy to include instructional videos on YouTube this summer, as well as guided chakra meditations.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective strategy has been being genuine and authentic with those who practice with me in my classes.
I am completely open with my students, and invite them on the journey to the parts of yoga beyond the physical aspects. I teach the lessons that are found within the movement, and to tools available to them to grow and heal in their journey.
Word of mouth and in person interactions, supplemented with social media content and engagement has been my best method for growth.
