We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Casaundra Lowe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Casaundra , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
My story begins with my sister’s 50th wedding anniversary. I approached her event as if she were a complete stranger, treating every detail with the same professionalism, care, and dedication I would give to any client. That moment was the first time I realized this was more than just helping family; it was the foundation of my business.
Every entrepreneur remembers their first client, but mine was unforgettable for a very personal reason. Fifty years earlier, I had walked down the aisle at her wedding as her flower girl, determined to drop every petal in my basket. Decades later, I carried the responsibility of planning her golden anniversary celebration.
Planning that milestone was not simply about décor or logistics; it was about honoring a love story that had endured for half a century. I poured myself into the details, knowing how much this celebration meant to her, to our family, and to the future of my business.
Although I did not yet have a full staff, I managed everything myself, from arranging her hair and nails to shopping for clothing and overseeing the event design. When the day came, my sister and brother-in-law walked into a room filled with family and friends raising champagne glasses in their honor. In that moment, I felt not only pride but also confirmation that I was walking in my purpose.
From flower girl to event planner, my journey began with love, legacy, and the joy of creating unforgettable moments.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Casaundra Lowe, and I’m the founder of Kandi’s Crafti Kreations Event Management, LLC. My passion for celebrating life’s special moments grew into a business dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences with excellence and care.
At Kandi’s Crafti Kreations, we specialize in milestone and anniversary events, while also offering weddings, corporate events, grand openings, and custom keepsakes. From an intimate family celebration to a large company launch, our goal is to design events that feel meaningful, memorable, and tailored to each client.
What sets us apart is our personalized approach. We treat every event with the same care and attention as if it were for one of our own family members. That means no detail is too small, whether it’s crafting the perfect guest list, curating menus, or creating thoughtful announcements, we ensure every element reflects your story.
I’m most proud that our work goes beyond décor and timelines. We create experiences that become lasting legacies. Our motto, “Taking Over the World, One Event at a Time,” reflects not just ambition, but our dedication to service, creativity, and heart.
For those meeting me and my brand for the first time, I want you to know this: your story matters, your budget is respected, and your event will always receive the same level of commitment and care we would give our own family.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 1998, a moment of disappointment became the spark for something extraordinary. When my daughter joined her middle school drill team, excitement quickly turned to dismay. There were no uniforms, no structured practices, and little support. When the teacher announced the team would not be able to perform, I saw the heartbreak in my daughter’s eyes and decided to step in.
With nothing more than my daughter, my nephew, and a single drum purchased from a pawn shop, I began gathering at the community park every Saturday morning. It was humble, but it was a start. What began with just two members soon grew to twenty-two. Without the benefit of social media, I relied on flyers, word of mouth, and sheer determination to recruit and organize. We took every opportunity to perform—at elder care facilities, community talent shows, and any event that would welcome us. That resilience gave birth to the Golden Fox Stompers Drill Team & Drum Squad.
Over time, what started as a small neighborhood group grew into a respected and celebrated organization, admired for its excellence, energy, and discipline. The Golden Fox Stompers went on to perform for the Mayor of Compton, Mr. Eric Perrodin, and received invitations from the NAACP Youth for Human Rights Movement. They were featured at Los Angeles Community Day, took the stage at the Orange County “On Track” fundraiser at Edison Field in Anaheim, and brought their spirit to community celebrations across Southern California—including Long Beach Veteran’s Day, Santa Ana Youth Day, and Gardena’s Senior Citizen’s Day.
The team’s dedication even earned them the spotlight at Los Angeles Korean Day, and in their very first year competing at the Martin Luther King Jr. Kingdom Day Parade, they proudly won First Place. From Pomona to Pasadena, Carson to Corona, the Golden Fox Stompers became a fixture in parades throughout the region, leaving a trail of energy and pride wherever they marched.
Through these experiences, the Golden Fox Stompers became more than a drill team; they became a source of community pride and a training ground for youth, instilling discipline, confidence, and teamwork.
This journey laid the foundation for my passion for event planning and community building, which would later evolve into Kandi’s Crafti Kreations. The story of the Golden Fox Stompers is one of resilience, vision, and the belief that with determination, even the smallest beginnings can grow into something extraordinary.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My reputation has always come from the way I treat people. I’ve been told all my life that it’s easy for me to make friends because I take the time to truly listen. People naturally open up to me, often sharing their life stories, and I see that as a gift. I carry that same approach into my business by making sure every client feels comfortable, welcome, and cared for from the very first conversation.
When I plan an event, I give it the same attention and care I would if I were planning it for myself or my own family. My father always taught me to treat people the way I would want to be treated even if I didn’t always get it back in return. My mother taught me that if I start something, I must finish it. And I live by another truth: I never promise what I cannot deliver.
Of course, sometimes things don’t go as planned. When that happens, it hurts me even more than it hurts the client because I truly take their joy and peace of mind to heart. That is why I push myself to go above and beyond to fix what I can, and to make sure every client knows they are valued and supported.
For me, event planning is not just a service; it’s an act of love, respect, and faith. I believe I’m doing this work for God, and I hold on to the reminder my father gave me: I can do anything I put my heart to. That’s why clients trust me, because they know their story, their vision, and their memories matter to me just as much as they matter to them.
