We were lucky to catch up with Caryn Butler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Caryn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I started my business in 2019 as a Virtual Assistant. I wanted a name that would reflect my vision of providing virtual solutions to my customers. A name that could remain unchanging as I pivoted or added services throughout the years. I wanted something that reflected pride and stood out as “one of a kind”. So Caryn Butler Virtual Solutions was born!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello! I am Caryn. I am a mom, an army veteran, a bookworm, a traveler, and a lover of K-dramas.
An expert project manager and the right-hand woman for online launches. I support women coaches, online service providers, and course creators by providing customized strategies and plans when they are ready to launch their courses, programs, and offers.
My background in psychology and human resources sets me apart from other launch specialists. Having an understanding of human behavior and motivation, along with project planning and strategy allows my clients to feel heard and supported while keeping them on track with their launch projects.
As a retired army officer and strategic HR planner for the government, I’m known for my ability to stay level-headed with a little quirkiness even in high-pressure situations like online launches. I’m also passionate about helping entrepreneurs succeed – it drives me daily.
My Kolbe-A is 8742. I am an INFP and an Ennegram 9.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Oh my! In 2015, I experienced my biggest life/career pivot. As a new mom of a 3-month-old, I retired from the army and moved across the country. My only plan was to “try” to get a job with the government. A year later, I was still jobless, dealing with post-partum depression, and trying to find my new purpose after 20 years in the military.
I hired a purpose/life coach in late 2016. With her help, I discovered what I am truly passionate about; managing the small things for business owners. After the government hiring freeze in 2017, I was FINALLY hired as an executive assistant. I loved the job, the people and the experience.
I pivoted again and resigned from my government job at the end of 2019. My friends asked, “Why would you leave such a great job?” My answer: I had a constant nagging in my heart telling me to move on and start my business. So I did! I am so glad I did. I now have the time and freedom to do what makes my heart happy.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Referrals. Referrals through collaborations. My 2022 word was networking. I spent the entire year focused on networking and collaborations. It has paid off!
If someone is struggling with finding clients, I would tell them to work on their connections. A simple yet authentic coffee chat or collaboration call can increase your exposure.
Be intentional with who you connect with, ask how you can support them, and continue to remain in contact with them.
