Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Wagner.
Hi Carson, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
From a young age, I’ve always had a passion for helping others. In high school, I stumbled into one of my first job working with adults with special needs. At the time, I didn’t even fully understand what the role entailed, but the moment I started, I fell in love with the field and the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. This experience left a lasting impression and ignited a deep passion for serving the special needs community.
While in college, I found myself working as both an ABA therapist for children with autism and a nanny. Through these roles, I noticed a glaring gap in the childcare industry: there wasn’t enough flexible, inclusive childcare available 24/7 to families, especially those with children requiring specialized care. This realization sparked a leap of faith that changed my life.
I made the bold decision to drop out of college and pursue this vision full-time. Many people thought I was crazy for pivoting so quickly, but when I had the idea, I couldn’t wait to bring it to life. Within a month, I obtained my business license and launched what would eventually become Lifetime of Love Nannies. Those early days were a steep learning curve—I hadn’t even navigated email much before starting my business, let alone dealt with filing or paperwork. When my first client asked where to sign the contract, I realized I didn’t even know what a contract should look like! I had so much to learn, and the first two years were filled with trial and error.
Then COVID-19 hit, and everything changed. With traditional childcare facilities shutting down, the demand for in-home childcare skyrocketed. My business went from a few employees to dozens within just a few months. It was a whirlwind of growth, and while it was overwhelming, it was also incredibly rewarding.
During this time, I connected with a fantastic business coach who specialized in the childcare industry. Their guidance helped me navigate the ins and outs of running a business and propelled me to take my operations to the next level. Over the years, I’ve built an amazing internal team, hiring one by one to ensure the weight of running the business didn’t rest solely on my shoulders.
In the past five years, Lifetime of Love Nannies has grown beyond what I could have imagined. It hasn’t always been easy—there’s been plenty of trial and error along the way—but I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. I’ve learned so much, not only about the childcare industry and business management but also about myself.
Looking back, I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. What started as a leap of faith has turned into a thriving business that fills a critical gap in the community. And I’m just getting started—I can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely had its bumps, but every challenge has been a stepping stone to growth. One of my biggest hurdles early on was not letting my age define my capabilities. At 19, I met with families who understandably questioned my experience given my youth, as I was asking them to trust me with their most precious treasure—their child. While I could completely understand the concerns, it was still challenging to navigate that judgment, especially when one client even suggested I should have pursued a degree instead of starting a nanny business. Those moments could have been discouraging, but instead, they fueled my determination to prove myself and push forward.
Another challenge was stepping into a leadership role at such a young age. Many of my employees were older than me, and it took time to feel comfortable giving direction and stepping into that authority. As someone naturally introverted, putting myself out there was another hurdle. Over time, I learned to trust my capabilities, embrace the discomfort, and lead with confidence.
Running a 24/7 business also presented unique struggles. For the first few years, I handled all after-hours calls myself, often waking up at 3, 4, or 5 a.m. multiple times a night to ensure no family went without care. It was far from a balanced lifestyle, but I felt it was necessary to build trust and reliability with our families. Eventually, I realized how essential work-life balance is—not just for my health, but for the creativity and energy I bring to my business. With an incredible team now handling after-hours calls, I’ve been able to shift my focus to working on the business instead of in it, which has been transformative.
Through it all, I’ve stayed committed to learning and growth, and that thirst for improvement has been my greatest tool in overcoming challenges. Every hurdle has shaped me into the leader I am today, and while the road hasn’t been smooth, I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lifetime of Love Nannies?
Lifetime of Love Nannies is more than just a nanny agency—we are a 24/7 childcare solution built on trust, compassion, and inclusivity. Our mission is to provide flexible, reliable, and high-quality care for families, whether they need a one-time sitter, recurring care, or specialized support for children with unique needs.
We specialize in creating fully customizable childcare experiences, tailored to meet the diverse needs of each family. We’re known for our personalized approach, thorough screening process, and our commitment to serving all families, including those in the special needs community. What truly sets us apart is our dedication to providing around-the-clock care and being there for families when they need us most. Whether it’s late-night care, last-minute requests, or navigating the complexities of specialized childcare, we pride ourselves on always being available and adaptable.
One of the aspects I’m most proud of is how our brand reflects our values—compassion, inclusion, and innovation. We’re one of the few agencies that accept state funding for special needs families, providing a critical resource for parents who often face limited options. Additionally, we are deeply committed to ensuring fair and legal treatment of our nannies. Unlike many in the in-home care industry, we employ all our nannies as W-2 employees rather than 1099 contractors. This ensures that our nannies receive the benefits and protections they are legally entitled to, including proper payroll taxes, workers’ compensation, and unemployment benefits. We are proud to stand against industry norms that often misclassify workers, and we are committed to making a difference.
We also offer corporate backup childcare solutions, newborn care specialists, and companion care for senior citizens, ensuring we can support families at every stage of life. From our rigorous 10-step screening process to our 24/7 support system, every aspect of our agency is designed to make childcare as seamless and stress-free as possible.
What I want readers to know about Lifetime of Love Nannies is that we are more than a service—we are a partner for families. We take the stress out of finding trustworthy care, and our team is committed to building meaningful relationships with both families and our nannies.
Our dedication to excellence has helped us grow rapidly over the past few years, but what I’m most proud of is the impact we’ve made on the lives of the families we serve. Whether it’s giving parents peace of mind, empowering our nannies with career growth opportunities, or helping the special needs community access inclusive care, we’re driven by our mission to make a difference.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always one for adventure! I loved being active and trying new things—I played soccer, skied, and played basketball, which kept me constantly on the go. My mom was a big reason for that; she always wanted me involved in something, whether it was sports, extracurricular activities, or anything else that helped me stay engaged and grow. I thought I wanted to be a doctor when I was younger or do something that contributed to society. Although, my idea of what I wanted to be seemed to change daily! There was so much to explore and learn that it was hard to know exactly what I wanted, but I always knew I wanted to do something I enjoyed.
I was full of ideas and loved coming up with new things to do, and my little sister Grace was always along for the ride. I wasn’t afraid of a challenge and enjoyed stepping outside my comfort zone. My personality was fun and upbeat, and I loved meeting new people and making friends wherever I went.
I grew up as a “river kid,” always in the river, a lake, or swimming. I spent my early years in Humboldt County before moving to Reno during elementary school. Humboldt, with its beautiful trees and the Trinity River, still holds a special place in my heart. My grandma has been my best friend since I was little, and I cherish the close relationship we’ve always had. My dad also played a big role in shaping who I am—he always pushed me to do my best and try harder, even when I thought I was already giving it my all.
Looking back, I think that adventurous, can-do spirit shaped a lot of who I am today, from taking big leaps in my career to building meaningful relationships in both life and business.
