We were lucky to catch up with Carrington Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Carrington , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
One day I was watching one of the military come home videos in which a friend or family member who has gone to the military pops up and surprises a loved one. As I’m watching the clips of people being surprised by a loved one that has been abroad for months and sometimes years it caused me to do the ugly cry. You know the one that is defined by uncontrollable sobbing, nose running, loud groans and a headache. After completing the video, I randomly asked God “Why does these videos have this affect on me?”. The response I got is ” Because I didn’t just call you to build romantic relationships. I’ve called you to rebuild family”. This message rang in my head and sent my mind on a journey throughout my life pinpointing the source of the calling and the ways I’ve been wired to desire family for everyone. With growing up in a single parent household and not being exposed to many if any direct examples of man, husband or father, I’ve always known that I wanted a family in which my children all came from the same woman and that we lived in a way that glorified God and provided a new example of possibilities for my family. With experiencing the different lacks that result from being raised by a single mom… lack of attention, lack of affection, lack of time, It created a desire to always want to be those things and provide those experiences for my children. Now as I look at the world, the problem that breaks my heart is the broken family and through the gifts that I’ve been given and the training and education I’ve pursued I see it as my sole mission to provide an example of God glorifying family with my life and serve individuals in becoming healed and whole enough within themselves to build that family dynamic for themselves and future generations.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Carrington Brown and I am a Relationship Expert & Life Coach. My focus is helping singles heal and equipping them with the tools and perspectives to create healthy relationships with the Source, Self & Someone else. I got into this industry through truly being told too often ” you need to charge for this, because you really just changed my life”. Eventually I got tired of hearing that and began creating opportunities for people all over the world to take part in my services and get the help and healing they need to create the life they desire. When working with clients, our foundational work is accomplished through me guiding them to changing their relationship with their past in order to adopt new perspective and revoke their power from past traumas and experiences. In additional to healing from traumas, I serve my clients in adopting constructive communication skills, getting clarity about the business, organization or career that God created you to thrive in, brand management, relationship preparation and self-love enhancement. I believe that what sets me apart from other professionals in the field is my individuality and the way I intertwine biblical truth with counseling technique. What I am most proud of are the amount of clients that post working with me have credited me as a foundational piece in the career, business, relational and life success that they are experiencing along with the amount of individuals that served in overcoming depression, anxiety and suicidal ideations. What I want individuals to understand about what I am building and what I do is that healing is available if your’e willing to accept the journey. Many individuals are living a lower level of life simply due to the bondage they live in as a result of what they’ve been through. There is a reason why you feel that there is more to life, there is a reason why you feel the tug to transition into a new field, there is a reason why you feel that life is so challenging and hard for you. It’s simply because you’re a trailblazer and God has called you to be the leader for creating new standards for excellence in your bloodline. He built you for it, now it’s your turn to prove it to you!
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
So the interesting piece about funding my business is that the overhead is super low due to it being an online business. My previous jobs were the initial investors in my company in the form of me taking my work income and investing it in the few places where finances were necessary in my business. I intentionally chose this question, just to provide this short response, to open the eyes of readers that you don’t need millions, thousands or even hundreds of dollars to build a successful business. You just need clarity about the mission, confirmation from God, confidence to go and a core commitment to solving the problem that you were created as the answer too.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most affective strategy for growing clientele has been social media. Through YouTube and instagram I create intentional content to serve individuals with the problems that I’m equipped to solve and direct them to work with me. Through Instagram I’m intentional about create Reels that are E.A.R content. E.A.R stands for Entertaining, Attractive and Relatable. Through this type of content I bring light to peoples day while dropping nuggets of wisdom in my commentary. Another tool I use through social media is IG lives and Youtube. Through these avenues I give clarity on topics and questions that individuals are curious about and in a way have live coaching sessions with viewers. These channels expose prospective clients to who I am as a coach, my heart as a coach, my style as a coach and confirms that I am the coach that you need as your coach.
