We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carrie Rosen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Carrie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. In our experience, overnight success is usually the result of years of hard work laying the foundation for success, but unfortunately, it’s exactly this part of the story that most of the media ignores. So, we’d appreciate if you could open up about your growth story and the nitty, gritty details that went into scaling up.
I got my real estate license while bartending. It was my goal to get out of food and beverage by the time I was 40.. Being in an abusive relationship during this time, it was rather difficult. I persevered got my license and started working for a friends firm only to quickly realize that I needed some training so I went and joined a larger firm. ERA Wilder, which helped train me. I went through extensive courses. I took the ninja course which changed my career.. what brought it to the next level though was driving around on my boyfriend at the Tim golf cart and admiring Homes and speaking with people I remember telling people how much I love their homes and I still do. Those people are the people that hire me and have hired me, I’m proud to say most of my business is through referrals

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As a struggling single mom, I think it was important to show them that work ethic and perseverance will get you somewhere. Im a very hard worker and I’m extremely stubborn which comes in handy with real Estate because you want a tough negotiator. I would definitely say moving around a lot while I was young has made me has given me the tools that I use every day as far as talking to new people and being able to fit in in any crowd.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Definitely living here and working here for 27 years often on has helped build me in my niche market. It also helps being a volunteer and being part of the community in every way my schedule allows.. and don’t forget our tight knit surfing community

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn my tough bartender exterior. And learn how to be more soft and business like without going to business school.. It was hard at first to take it down a notch from the rough and tough bartender to the Realtor, who listens and is sympathetic with all of the different scenarios that real Estate can bring. But the funny part is the two go hand-in-hand that we are therapists for our clients and customers as well.
