We recently connected with Carrie Juliao and have shared our conversation below.
Carrie, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think the most important thing someone needs to be successful is a passion for what they are doing. Success is something that should be measured on an individual basis. What ever goals you set for yourself and achieve is a form of success. I do think that you have to be able to commit, be consistent, determined, and work really hard for whatever it is you want to achieve.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was born and raised in Northern Alabama. I moved away with my husband in 2014 and currently live in Tampa. For as long as I remember I wanted to be a Realtor. Life and circumstances kept me from having the courage to take the leap in my 20’s. I spent 17 years working in an Operating room with consistent pay. To leave my comfort zone was scary. Finally, at the age of 40 I made the leap after breaking my ankle and realizing in the 3 months with one leg I could do this. Selling real estate is not as easy as some may think. You have to convince people to trust you with what is most likely the biggest purchase they will make in their life. Building that trust when you have no experience is even harder. I was also away from my family and friends so I was starting completely over building my circle and my network. I quickly learned that I needed to be out at events every day meeting someone new. It has taken several years but I work on a referral only basis. Which is great because otherwise you have to spend money to get leads to work and even then you don’t know if they will turn into a sale. People like to do business with people that they know, like, and trust. I focused on that and it has worked out really well for me. I also changed my brokerage because I really wanted to concentrate on luxury real estate and development. I made a great choice making the switch because I am now surrounded by people that do just that and I am a part of the sales team for my first real estate development project.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best source for new clients is my past clients. I offer a complete concierge service to my clients so they can just relax throughout the process. Your reputation is very important in my business. When clients walk away happy with a smooth transaction they are happy to refer me to their friends and family. This continues to build my business and honestly the biggest compliment someone can give.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I have a list of past clients that I keep on a spreadsheet and every day I call a few and work my way down the list. I just check in with them, see if I can help them. If they have something big going on such as birthdays , anniversaries etc I always wish them well on that. I love to send handwritten cards in the mail just to say hi. Social media has been a huge help in keeping touch. If I see that perhaps their child made straight A’s I will send a card with a treat. It is just all about showing that you care and that you think of them and their family.
